    Hired Attorney

    Jon will save you

I got pulled by Dulles airport goon from the Republic of Georgia who decided to end my life for speeding, you know Soviet style. He slapped me with Reckless and a DUI and promised that I won't see light of day. We searched and searched for a lawyer and settled on Jon Katz. Well, suffice it to say that Jon, the magician, got me out of it with minimal damage and no DUI. His charm, ability to organize, knowledge of the law were unparalleled. Every lawyer will promise you the world but Jon promised nothing and only delivered. That ordeal was horrowing, but Jon got me out of it at the Prelim hearing so my life can go back to normal fairly quickly. Don't drink and drive folks, they will screw you royally.

    Best one you can find

Mr. Katz is definitely the best one you can find for your DUI case. I first got a DWI charge in Virginia, and I was really freaked out. However, Jon helped out and offered lots of solutions not only as a professional expert but also a supportive friend! In the end, my dwi charge in Virginia became reckless driving. This result truly saves my career path! FYI: I am from Asia, and Mr. Katz totally understands and respects my culture. He is the one that you can BELIEVE!

    Thank you Jon!

This was my first time facing a charge, a reckless driving charge, which is jailable in Virginia.I was upset and nervous as I clearly had no idea that speeding would put someone into jail. As a student, I did not have any clue about how to fight against it but I did know I could not afford any jail time. However, advised by Jon, following his specific instructions on preparation and doing the "homework" he assigned, I was able to get myself out of the gloomy situation. More importantly, together working with Jon personally in a team, I felt more powerful. At the end,I was happy about the result Jon got for me due to his very impressive skills and highly-concentrated working style on the court date. Nevertheless, I am even happier that now I have an intelligent friend like Jon. Again, thanks Jon! Xiexie!

    Honest Jon

My first impression of Mr Katz in our initial consultation was that he was an ass but someone you want on your side. I thought his fee was a bit extravagant but he promptly refunded most of it when my case got dismissed before trial. Our meeting was a bit contentious but I can tell this guy is a bulldog. Jon is a honest upstanding guy who doesn't sugarcoat. He put in writing that he will dedicate himself fully to your case if you choose to hire him. Honestly he is a bit of a jerk but I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

    The best!

Jon Katz defended me on a dui case. He was informative and responsive through out the whole process. He got the ball rolling on what I needed to be doing before the court date and kept me informed the entire time. He was confident and very knowledgable about everything. The best part, he got my dui dropped to a wreck less driving! I was ecstatic! Still am. I might add, my case seemed almost impossible to not get convicted of a dui. Best lawyer ever! I will be recommending him to everyone!

    Top-notch trial attorney

Jon got a good result on a DUI/refusal to blow trial involving a collision -- after examining the arresting officer, the prosecutor accepted our offer of pleading down to reckless and refusal. This is apparently very rare in DUIs involving a collision. The prosecutors are generally unwilling to give such a deal in such cases. I attribute this result to Jon's talent and preparation.

Jon was generally responsive to emails and calls within a day, and his staff are on point. His demeanor and experience calmed me and inspired confidence in his abilities, and I speak on this point as a fellow lawyer. His courtroom demeanor set him apart from other attorneys. I probably saw four other attorneys argue DUIs on my court date, and Jon made each of them seem amateurish and unprepared. I recommend Jon without reservation, and had an overwhelmingly positive experience in his representation of me.

    Consulted Attorney

    Katz: Solid Leagal Professional

I had an urgent legal matter and contacted Mr. Katz for advice. He was prompt in setting a no fee initial consultation. He displayed a high level of knowledge of the areas of law that affect my case and provided advice for pretrial activity on my part that was sound. In the end I did not choose to go with Mr. Katz, but this was a function more that I have a relationship with another law firm that handled a case for me in the past very successfully than any negatives feelings towards Mr. Katz. As this other firm was able and willing to attend to my legal situation I have chosen them. Check this guy out if you need a lawyer!

Works miracles, reduced DWI charge in very strict area.

I was convicted of a DWI after retaining the services of a local attorney (not Katz) near the area where I was charged. This lawyer was horrible, and did not work with any effort on my case for me to have an adequate and fair defense. So now my only options were to accept this conviction that would tarnish my professional record and limit my career opportunities or appeal this conviction.
I am glad I chose the latter option, and looked for a lawyer that would give me my best chance of reducing this conviction. I knew this was an uphill battle because I heard the appeals judge was even tougher on DWI charges.
I searched the internet for the best lawyer in the DC area, and came across this website. I saw Katz had a perfect rating, had amazing reviews (seemed a little too good to be true, but they were.) So, I called him and could tell from the start he means absolute business, does not give any BS. After consulting with many other lawyers, I felt Katz was my best option. It was.
On the day of the hearing, Katz was already talking with local lawyers to get some inside information. He was working, reading, talking with me the whole time prior to the hearing. Then the hearing starts, he goes up to the judge and talks with him...a few minutes later my charge is dropped from DWI to reckless. I was willing to accept harsher penalties to get this DWI off my record, which might have helped. But I remember the prosecution was shocked, and very caught off guard that this just happened so quickly. Overall, I am glad I found Katz, and got the best results I could ask for given my situation.

    Freedom Fighter

I had the unfortunate experience of running afoul of the Virginia law authorities a little while back. Though the charge was "only" a misdemeanor criminal charge it held out the prospect of destroying my life and my career. The police were less than ethical in questioning so I basically dug myself into a big black hole. The whole system is a little on the inhumane side if you ask me.

Jon ended up being the only light at the end of what felt like a very dark tunnel. In the end my charge was reduced which I felt was a favorable outcome given the circumstances at the time.

I had discussed my case with several attorneys before seeing Jon. They appeared to offer no hope; it seemed they were only interested in getting money to file an appeal and they were not interested in fighting for my rights. Jon was a little difficult to get hold of at first and I was a little apprehensive about his "quirks" as mentioned in one AVVO rating.

However, after spending only fifteen minutes with Jon I knew that this was the guy I wanted to have on my side. I left his office feeling whole and human again and I knew my rights were going to be protected.

He immediately recommended a defense strategy and we discussed an action plan I could implement while waiting for my court date that would improve my chances. I was not only impressed with his legal acumen and supreme confidence; more than anything it was his humanity. He listened to me an I felt like he cared about me and my case. He offered to fight hard all the way up to and on my court date.

He didn't pull any punches, he pointed out the pros and cons but when I left his office I was "whole" again. He was a bit "quirky" but that turned out to one his strengths and went with his disarming sense of humor. I would be worried sick about a court delay or some other fact of my case and he would effortlessly manage to lift my spirits, literally.

Jon always returned phone calls promptly and as long as you scheduled a half hour meeting in advance he would make himself available to you.

If you were like me when you first visited AVVO I know how you must be feeling!!! Do not fear, there is someone who will fight this crazy system they call justice. That someone is Jon Katz.

Jon Katz is a freedom fighter and it's your freedom he's fighting for!

The best friend you can have in the courtroom.

The day Jon and I met, he told me, "I'll fight for you every step of the way." He absolutely lived up to his promise. Jon was very proactive from day one, and kept me informed of every action he took via prompt email. He laid out a plan of action for my defense, including things I could do to help my case before we even went to court. When we received a plea offer in the days leading up to my court date, he carefully explained to me the pros and cons of accepting such a deal. When my day in court arrived, he was in constant contact with the prosecutor prior to my case being called, and his extensive knowledge of the evidence in my favor over the course of this bargaining process resulted in a plea deal that gave us a better outcome than we expected to be possible short of going to trial and winning. That being said, Jon also made sure that I was aware that he would have gladly gone to trial had I requested that we push forward. In the end, Jon did everything I could have asked.
