Practice Area: Wrongful Death
Outcome: (Not available)
Description: Decedent was killed when an improperly secured plywood board flew off the roof of an SUV and into the path of a truck which had been following the SUV. The SUV lost control and crossed the highway crashing into the decedent's vehicle. The damage would have been minor except that the truck bed was made of wood by the owners and fastened to the frame with improper fasteners. As a result the wood bed fractured upon impact and a piece of wood entered the driver's window striking her in the neck and killing her instantly. Jury verdict and settlement by other defendants resulted in a 1.5 million dollar verdict.
