Thomas Blauvelt represented me today during a suspension hearing as I racked up 17 points over several years. I went into the hearing with the expectation of a reduced suspension as Thomas had successfully filed a motion to reopen a previous case which led to 7 points off my license (10 now). Getting no suspension was basically out of the question in my mind and I was planning for an appeal to delay things and try to get the suspension reduced even more.

I was at the hearing with him in Trenton and here is where the importance of having a well known top lawyer really became evident. The gentleman handling our case called us up and talked to Thomas like a familiar friend. I definitely felt more at ease that we would be able to work out a reduced suspension. I was wrong. Thomas managed to get the suspension totally waived! Not even a fine! We all know traffic court is a huge money maker so to get out of there without paying a dime says wonders.

It was immediately obvious that the gentleman had respect for Thomas when my previous point reduction was not showing up in the system and he went out of his way even involving his supervisor to get this straightened out while we were there. It would have been much easier and more profitable for him to give me a suspension/fine and tell me to appeal it. Thomas had all the proper notes and records of the previous court date when we had the points reduced. Had I used someone else for that date or gone on my own, my license would be suspended without a doubt.

His fees are very reasonable given he is the best of the best. Can you find a lawyer for a few bucks less? Sure. Do I think a budget lawyer would have been able to get me these results? Not a chance. I would bet my license on that! His pricing is right on par for a quality attorney. He takes care of repeat clients as well so honestly a discount run of the mill attorney wouldn't even be a discount.

I'm way too familiar with NJ traffic court from representing myself to using discount attorneys to using the best. Don't waste your time or money elsewhere. Everyone knows how important having a license is. With NJ not even having hardship licenses to allow a suspended driver to commute to work and home, these violations are nothing to play around with. When your job, family's well being and life is on the line only the best will do.

Received a reckless driving and speeding for 100 in a 65. Due to my work schedule, Mr. Blauvelt and his staff were able to execute a rather quick court date appearance on short-notice. He is very familiar with the courts' procedure and personnel, due to his 20 years of experience. Reckless driving was dismissed.

By far one of the best lawyers in NJ. Experience was apparent from the first consultation and throughout the process. Given that this was the first time I was involved in a legal complaint matter, I was very nervous and worried. However, Mr. Blauvelt answered all my questions and kept me calm. Mr Blauvelt exceeded all expectations securing the best possible outcome for our son when he was found in posession of Maijuana. This being a first offence, our son had no idea what to expect. He was extremely anxious. As parents, this is an experience you dread! However, Mr Blauvelt calmly coached him ( and us ) through the court process as to what to expect. Thomas has helped me out with my most recent and past traffic incidents. I hired Thomas initially for a 102 in 65, reckless and improper lane change. It didn't help that I already had about 13 points on my license. He managed to get 2 of the charges thrown out and the speeding ticket reduced so I ended up with 4 points instead of 12 and a reduced fine. He also prevented a lengthy suspension and I was only without a license for 20 days. He did a good job overall but this was a pretty cut and dry incident in my mind.

Here is where Thomas really shined...

We reviewed my driving history and my last stop before this was in 2009. It was a 9 point stop - 5pt tailgating and 4pt speeding. I had moved down to Florida and didn't want to deal with hiring an attorney or going to court at the time so I just plead guilty, paid the fine and took the 9 points. As I did not use a lawyer, nor plea bargain, Thomas filed a motion to reopen the case. The judge granted the request and I just went to court with Thomas. The result was they dropped the tailgating ticket and reduced the speeding ticket to just 2 points - YES 4 YEARS LATER! This was HUGE for me as it took 7 points off my license and should prevent a further suspension at an upcoming hearing.

I am a pretty picky person and for me to call Thomas "the man" says a lot. His card has a permanent home in my 700 horsepower M3.

After a night of bad decisions I was charged with a DWI (.21 reading), a 102 mph in a 65 mph zone, and an unsafe lane change. I was extremely scared about what I was facing. I was arrested for DUI (BAC-0.79) in Morris County (Parsippany) and received 5 tickets in all (DUI, reckless, inspection papers, illegal u-turn, headlight not working). I went to Mr. Blauvelt's office a couple of days after I received a DUI charge in Piscataway NJ. My blood/alcohol content was a 0.15 and I was facing a 7 month suspension and an Interlock device installation. For those of you that aren't familiar with the interlock device, it's a device that the courts make you install into your car for 6 months to a year after you get your license back. Not only do you have to blow into this device to start your car, but the payment for the device is pretty expensive. I wasn't from Piscataway, and didn't know much about their court system, so my primary agenda was to hire a lawyer that was close to the prosecutors and judges of the court. After looking up DUI lawyers in Piscatway, I really couldn't find any, so I started looking up DUI lawyers in the closest city (Edison) and immediately came across Mr. Blauvelt. During our first meeting, Mr. Blauvelt explained that he knew both prosecutors and both judges of Piscataway court very well and already started finding holes in my case and angles that he could work. He was very honest from the beginning, and never led me to believe that he could work a miracle for me, just so I would retain him. I was facing pretty serious charges, due to my high reading, so he explained to me what he could do within reason. Long story short, Blauvelt's relationships with the prosecutors and the judges allowed him to work work a deal with them, where they reduced my license suspension from 7 to 3 months, and I didn't have to install an interlock device! A 3 month license suspension is way more manageable than 7 months, especially since my job requires me to drive up and down NJ. Mr. Blauvelt's strong points are that he keeps very good relationships with prosecutors and judges, he knows DUI law in and out, and he's a straight shooter. He's also very responsive through email. This past May, I was stopped at a DUI checkpoint at the Turnpike Exit 9 Toll Booths. I received a DUI charge of 0.15 BAC, reckless driving charge, a careless driving charge and a ticket for an expired registration card. I was looking at a 7 months license suspension, an ignition interlock device for 6-12 months following the suspension, 12-48 hrs IDRC, $300-500 fine and various surcharges.

I was pretty upset since it would greatly affect my commute to work but I met with multiple lawyers and discussed my case. Recently was in a tough situation when I was arrested in Bermuda while on holiday for marijuana possession. I only had NY permit driving in NJ and got into an accident. Got unlicensed driver and careless driving ticket. I had 3 summons: 2c:28-4b(1), 2c:33-2a(2) & 2C:35-10.5A(3).

The summons 2c:28-4b(1) & 2c:33-2a(2) each carried 6 months in jail and $1000 fine.

The summon for 2C:35-10.5A(3) was the gorilla, though. The summon carried a fine of up to $200,000 and a year in jail.

I was in a lot of trouble, and I wasn't helping him either! I had demands that made this more challenging than it needed to be: I was a bestman in my brothers wedding, and my court date fell on his wedding. I was also moving that month, so I needed to wrap up my case quickly.

It was a mess.

I was scared, confused and I really didn't know what to do. I knew I needed a good lawyer, though. I am addicted to reviews, so I did my research on Hoboken attorneys and came across Thomas Blauvelt.

Thomas is my hero. He is endlessly passionate about his clients and to say that he changed my life is an understatement.

First off, Thomas was able to reschedule my court date so I could attend my brothers wedding.

Second, and likely the most important, Thomas was able to get my 2C:35-10.5A(3) completely dismissed!

What is important to note here is Thomas took into account my career. By the time I got in trouble with the law, a DWI offence, I was confused and afraid of what was going to happen with me. I then scheduled a free consultation with Mr. Thomas Carroll Blauvelt. My son had gotten himself into a very bad situation. Through a variety of offenses, small and large, he was facing up to three years of a suspended license, thousands in fines and perhaps a small bit of jail time.

The events that led to this occurred in more than five municipalities. So Thomas Blauvelt, Esq. had to deal with those plus the MVC (on multiple occasions). The proposed suspension arose out of a guilty plea to illegal possession of another person's license in New York State. Thomas understood the severity of my case and immediately requested a meeting to make me aware of the severity of the charges and the consequences for me. It was worth the money all around - instead of a 60 day suspension and 5 points I'm going to end up with 0 points and all it will cost me is a modest cash investment and 6 hours of my time.
