He has over five years experience as a trial attorney and appeals attorney. He has practiced in many counties throughout North Carolina, the US Department of Education's Office of Hearings and Appeals and is also licensed in the District of Columbia.
He also has extensive experience in the administration of federal student financial aid programs and analysis of higher education research topics. He has provided consulting services to more than 50 institutions of higher education including public, private, and community colleges.
He has been a featured speaker and trainer at national and state conferences. The topics of these speaking engagements have included family law issues, child custody, domestic violence, Title IV statutory and regulatory issues, staffing, higher education research, technology issues, and leadership in higher education.
