Biography:
During high school Travis was focused on getting out of Montana and seeing the world. After the fall of communism and the collapse of the Soviet Bloc crushed his desire to serve on the Berlin Wall; Travis decided to join the Navy. “The Navy was, and still is in my opinion, the best place for a young person to discover their full potential.” said Travis. During his time in the Navy, he was given the opportunity to work with all of the wonderful staff of the legal department on his ship as a Master-at-Arms, and this nurtured his ambition to become an attorney. It was also during this time that he had the opportunity to work in the Puget Sound and fell in love with the region and its people.
During undergraduate and law school, he worked to support his family at various positions including UPS, the Boilermaker’s Union, several property management and construction firms and caring for the handicapped as a CNA. These experiences left him with a deep appreciation for what is required to make-ends-meet and the difficulties inherent in providing the best for your family during hard times.
Taking advantage of every opportunity to learn, Travis worked hard at his studies and earned high honors in his undergraduate courses, and in pursuit of a well-rounded legal education, completed many more credits of learning than were required to graduate from law school.
Travis is an honest and straightforward advocate for his clients and is unafraid to aggressively advance their interests. He understands that, “At the end of the day, I have to justify my time and actions, not only to my clients, but to myself and our society as well.” said Travis. He strives to always be responsive to his client’s questions and concerns and prides himself on being available for them on their time schedule. He acknowledges that not everyone works 9 to 5 schedules and for those that don’t, they deserve something more than a 9 to 5 attorney.
Travis has practiced exclusively in Family Law as an attorney and would not have it any other way. “The field of Family Law has offered me some of the most challenging, frustrating, but ultimately rewarding experiences of my life. I left the Navy to pursue a career that would allow me to engage with others and have a positive impact on their lives; our law offices gives me the opportunity to see this goal become a reality.” said Travis.

No counter.
Even though the spousal maintenance was a hard sell to begin with, I feel that when we did go to court the defense could have been more vigorous. Opposing counsel was allowed to frame the discussion and used false information that was not countered. I felt like addressing the court but bit my tongue...
While it hurts my ego to have someone who was not satisfied; we were able to obtain maintenance for our male client in a short-term marriage. Great lengths were made to explain the cost/benefit of proceeding on such an admittedly "hard sell" and the decision was made to pursue the claim. The recovery, which included attorney fees, did cover the expense and then some, but the length of the reward for maintenance was disappointing; but within the framework of possibilities discussed and was at the discretion of the court. OC did throw out a lot of BS, but it was all countered or more harm than good to their position. None of their arguments were considered by the court for any safety issues alleged. From the beginning this was a case where the cost/benefit of going to trial was not favorable and I wouldn't take it to trial. I am disappointed there was a loss of faith due to a ruling that was not a "home run", but the results were favorable and our work on behalf of the client exhaustive.

Horrible experience with Travis Groves!
I had a horrible experience with Mr. Groves! He completely misrepresented his experience level to me. Forgot TWICE to put his phone on silent when we went befoe commisioners. Really ticked them off! He was about seven months post passing the bar and completely tricked me about his expertise and ex...
This matter was heard several years ago. I cannot claim I have never forgot to turn my phone off, but I don't recall doing it twice, nor has the court ever been upset with me doing so. The court didn't grant the request for restraints because they felt she knew of his issues and condoned them. We felt it was an awful decision and filed for revision. This matter was successfully resolved by our office. I have worked with our firm since 2006 after graduating law school at UW in 2003. I worked real estate until the decline after 2008 and passed the bar in 2009. At the time of this matter I believe I had several years experience, on my own cases, and many more assisting with others as paralegal. My representation was appropriate at all times in this matter.

Awful attorney
Everyone always talks about how shiesty lawyers can be, but Travis Groves takes the lead for most inconsiderate, greedy lawyer I've ever met. I retained him after our consultation. During our consultation he was pleasant and seemed to be somewhat conforting towards my legal situation. After that it w...

Hiring Travis Groves Will Be a HUGE Mistake
I hired Travis Groves to tackle a cross-state custody case. Paid him $5000 retainer right away, to which he used up within a month, and asked for more after crashing and burning hard on my case. After all was said and done, this man charged $7000 total for the most ineffective performance I've ever...
