Hands down she is the best attorney in Snohomish County. She will fight to the end to get her clients what they deserve. I wouldn’t spend a dime with another Attorney in the area. I almost hope I get arrested again. That is how confident I am in Mrs. Sullivan's abilities and character. I got pulled over, while attempting to ash my marijuana pipe out the window, driving down one of the busiest streets in Lynnwood, Washington. Not my greatest moment. The good news was, I knew wh...o I would call. My fiancée had recently had a legal tangle of her own, this one was alcohol related but, her attorney got her an acceptable outcome despite the deck being stacked against her. I wanted her lawyer, Brian Sullivan. His firm specializes in (among other things) DUI defense. He is well respected, with the highest rating possible on this website. No brainer, right? Well, when I called, he was unavailable. Melissa was and saw me in the office an hour later. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. While I instantly liked her, she did not have the reputation that Brian has. I mentioned that and asked why I should go with her over Brian. It was her response that really won me over. She explained that the firm works as a team and she assured me that if it got to the point where we were going to trial and I didn’t have confidence in her, that I had the option of having Brian or Jason Lantz (another well respected DUI attorney in the office) represent me at that point. She was also very confident in her own abilities and was sure she could help me. While she may not have had as much experience as a defense attorney, she had loads in the Skagit County DA’s office. At this point, I had not yet been charged with a crime. She told me I could retain her for pre charge for 25% of the DUI fee. In the event that I was charged, that initial payment would be applied to the total. I figured there was no way that I could get out of this without getting charged anyway so, I went with that. Good news soon followed, my blood results came back and I was below the per se limit, but, she said a charge could still come. She said she would contact the DA’s office in an attempt to prevent this, as there were already plans to fight the blood evidence anyway. I wasn’t that excited though, because I just thought, what is her motivation for me to not get charged? They would just lose out on ¾ of the fee they could have made. Not two days later, I got a call from her with the best news I could imagine. Melissa informed me that the DA’s office had declined to charge me with DUI. Obviously, I was happy about that, but what stands out to me the most is that Melissa sounded genuinely thrilled to be able to give me that news. She didn’t seem at all concerned about the money she didn’t get, she was happy getting me that best outcome. That is, above all else, why I am writing this recommendation of Melissa Sullivan. If you want an attorney that will fight for what it right for YOU, then look no further. If she continues to provide this service to her clients then it won’t be long before she is as well-known and respected as Brian. If I am ever arrested again, I will call her first. It is a good feeling knowing that you have a lawyer you can trust.
