DUI charges make up the majority of my practice. As a state that charges people who are above AND below the legal limits for alcohol and marijuana consumption, DUIs are taken very seriously in Washington State. A serious charge requires a serious and experienced representation.

Domestic Violence 20%

Domestic violence cases are difficult for everyone involved, the person charge and the alleged victim. Often, the prosecutor has no regard for the wishes of the victim, and that can create even more tense family situations on top of an already stressful criminal charge. Half of my career has been spent in defending Domestic Violence related charges.

Cases involving youth do not arise as often as adults, but when they do, they must be dealt with with great care and expertise. This is a traumatic time for a youth and his or her family, but it should not be something that marks you for a lifetime.

True Honesty is hard to come by....; )

After weeks of deciding if I could afford an attorney for my juvinelle son that had just been arrested for a serious crime, I decided to contact and attorney. The attorney told me that my case my be too complicated for his level of experience and to contact Quita St. John (20+ years with juvinelle an...d adult defendants). I gave her a call she was very kind and personable when she spoke with me and invited us down for an consultation to see if it was necessary to hire an attorney. Quita’s office was in a very nice clean quite space on beacon ave in Seattle, she welcomed us in with a feeling of comfort as we reviewed the different options of what has been done or what more can be done for my son if we were to hire an attorney. Quita explained step by step that my son was getting the best representation for the level of offense and broke down the different ranges and that with the current representation she did not believe hiring her would be of benefit. We were in Aw of her honesty and if necessary would have at any cost hired her to respresent our son. Thank you so much Quita.

For DV Matters, Drop Everything and Call Her

Domestic Violence Temporary Restraining Orders are often problematic, as the burden of proof is relatively low in comparison with other matters. For those that have been on the receiving end of any such actions, from general family law claims to divorce tactics, and when allegations have been known t...o the respondent and supported by his/her evidence as false and/or overstated, it is crucial to get proper counsel. My primary attorney had been unavailable for a scheduled DV/Family Law hearing, and had contracted with Quita to represent me during his absence. Having barely communicated with her prior to meeting shortly before the hearing, I didn't know what to expect---I have no words to really describe her effectiveness in our proceeding. But to make an effort... Quita presents extremely well to judges/commissioners in these matters. Knowing little about a case, she can assemble an effective legal argument in a matter of minutes while discretely consults with the client. It is clear that the court room is her element. Situation/Task: win the motion scheduled for hearing in 20 minutes; Action: multitasking simultaneously amongst legal research, the client's alleged facts, and intuitive observance of the ancillary players and setting; in front of the judge, presenting an effective argument; Result: motion granted. If I could give six stars, I would. Trust me, I'm familiar with attorneys. Immediately following the hearing, I encouraged my primary counsel to utilize her abilities any time. If you have a DV matter, stop searching and call her.

Highly recommend

We contacted Quita regarding a No Contact Order. She was very detailed in her explanation of the process, our options, and her recommendation going forward. Although we did not hire her, it was ONLY because we did not file the order. If we had, we would have 100% chosen her to represent us. Her c...onsultation did not feel rushed and we walked away from the meeting feeling more confident and comfortable. I highly recommend her.

Managed a family thru a difficult DUI

Quita inherited our son's DUI case after our lawyer went on maternity leave. It was not an easy case to inherit. There had been months of navigating through regional and mental health courts. When Quita was given the case, her role was to enter a guilty plea and manage a final deal. What happened ne...xt was extraordinary. As she poured through the files, she found that the patrolman may not have had just cause to pull our son's car over. Through her knowledge on prior case law, she referenced judgements in the 9th Circuit Court. She carefully and cautiously offered her thoughts on garnering a ruling that could possibly dismiss the case. She thoroughly explained what would happen if we went to court and lost (or won). Watching her in court was impressive. She was very, very good. She had done her homework and was prepared for the cross-examination of the patrolman and possible holes the prosecuting attorney and judge would present. Thanks to her diligence, our son won his case. We feel very fortunate to have Quita represent our son. She's got a great demeanor, is respectful and works hard on behalf of her clients.

Authentically engaging attorney

Ms. St. John was assigned to my case after my attorney went on maternity leave. She quickly brought herself to an understanding of the multiple factors involving my DUI/Speeding charges. She is an effective communicator both in the courtroom and out. My questions never sat in limbo - often receiving ...an answer within moments of my communication to her. Ms. St. John was diligent in exploring every avenue for dismissal of my case. Personally, I feel the dismissal would have been successful if we had a different judge. This said, I was still satisfied with the overall outcome of my case. I highly recommend Ms. St. John . I have her on speed dial and will keep her there for years to come!
