Philip Colin Tsai

I would highly recommend Phil Tsai, for anyone, going through a divorce, one of the most difficult passages of life, for both spouses. I went through this passage after a long term marriage, with deep emotional conflicts, and I was very glad that I hired Phil Tsai to represent me. He is not only a ...smart, experienced lawyer, but he is an excellent communicator who understands not only the legal process but also comprehends the human interactions during the process. My case had hard complex issues, with high emotions and high assets. He listened carefully and assessed the complexities with a human ear, and not just a legal pad. Although there must be other good, competent divorce attorneys in the area, I think Phil Tsai is probably exceptional in that he helped me, as his client, to understand and navigate the “inherently adversarial process” and to keep focus on what is really important and come out with a legal/financial fair outcome. Without his calm legal guidance, I would have fallen off the cliff. I believe that Phil Tsai’s intelligent legal steps and steadfast, strong negotiations were very effective. He is a respectful attorney, and despite his busy practice, he always returned my calls and emails in a timely manner. In the end, you have to trust your attorney to work hard and do the best to represent you, and that’s what Phil Tsai did. He helped me get through the legal maze, protect my position when things got rough, then kept me in focus, and arrived at a fair settlement. Phil Tsai is sharp, focused, well-organized, highly ethical, and effective in court. Like a good quarterback, he helped to win a favorable settlement. Before meeting Mr. Tsai, I had hired and fired two other family law attorneys who were older and more experienced. They were resting on their laurels,... and following procedures, but doing no better than I might have done on my own. Phil Tsai made a difference, and fast. Within two weeks I had temporary support coming in, and twice the amount that the other lawyers thought was possible. Mr. Tsai will not waste your money or your time.

I hired Phil to handle my divorce. I have no doubt in his knowledge and ability to be a good lawyer. He talked a great talk during the consult. However, once he was hired, he was very busy and like he didn’t know my case very well. I did most of the legwork myself, I had prepared an Excel sheet with ...all my assets, which he never took the time and patience to properly understand. He did not provide proper guidance along the way. I had to repeatedly call the office to check for updates and ask questions. His office staff made multiple mistakes on multiple occasions. I did not find him to be one to guide through the divorce process properly. Nor did he show any compassion during the divorce. We resolved my divorce during mediation with a mediator present. Also, on a few separate occasions Phil got short with me which I did not appreciate. When someone is paying you $400 an hour you make sure you provide good customer service. I also have very little confidence in his office staff through their repeated mistakes.

I guess this would be more about Goldberg & Jones than the lawyer Phil Tsai but he has chosen to work for them so therefore he needs to be held accountable. I believe that Goldberg & Jones keeps all their lawyers so bogged down in clients that no lawyer in that firm can give any individual their best... which includes Phil in this case. Phil like all the lawyers at Goldberg & Jones have to follow the rules of the firm & this firm is only concerned with money & the more clients they bring in the more money for them. I had to more than once write letters of concern to Phil regarding his non-responsiveness to my calls & also he did not keep me well informed which was really stressful for me. I also feel that he was not as knowledgeable as he should of been regarding the laws of divorce, child custody & child support & especially the judge that we were assigned to;some things I had to bring to his attention, he missed court filings & mistakes were made. Again, I would never go with an attorney that is under the thumb of a law firm, especially Goldberg & Jones. Phil, I believe had so many cases going at one time, that he could not devote the time to my case that it needed & deserved & if he had of I believe that we would have had a different outcome. My advise to anyone reading this is to go with an individual attorney.
