In 2017 I was in a car accident the really change my life do to the fact that i can't really do activities that I use because of this accident. Rear ended with minimal property damage to my vehicle (Feb 2017). I did sustain injuries such as whiplash, muscle soreness and strain in both shoulders and lower back. My treatment consisted of chiropractic care, massage therapy and received facet injections in shoulder/back. I had an MRI done, wh...ich diagnosed a slipped disc as a result of the accident. The insurance company of the defendant would not accept liability even though he was issued a citation. They tried to make a case that the low impact collision didn't cause my injuries. Upon returning back to health in late Sept 2017 we issued a Demand Letter for medical compensation and pain & suffering. The defendant's insurance company did not respond and at this point weren't accepting liability. I had to go through an Independent Medical Exam that dragged my case along slowly. Evan calls me less than a week after and lets me know that the insurance company is ready for settlement and is offering their policy limit for damages. This was my first time needing a lawyer to defend me. My family and I were rear-ended by a distracted driver. Evan was qui...ck to set us up with the doctors we needed, and get the case moving. He was often available to answer questions, or he called back if needed. There was even a time one of the providers was threatening to send our fees to collections because they refused to link the treatment to the auto accident, and Evan was quick to step in and defend us. We ended up with a fair settlement, and none of my fears of large debts from doctor's bills at the start of the case happened. All that being said, again this was my first time interacting with an attorney. I was hoping for more active guidance through the process. The lack of at least a monthly check-in sometimes made me feel in the dark. Maybe the need for a client to be proactive in communicating is just standard practice though.
