Karlie M. Valdez

I received a Negligent Driving ticket resulting from an incident on I-5, as did the driver of the other vehicle. Given the circumstances I pleaded Not Guilty and represented myself. The verdict was Guilty. I paid my fine and moved on. Fast forward 2 years and while applying for a job I find out t...hat you cannot have a Negligent Driving Conviction on your DOL abstract for this job. For 6 months I wandered around to yet another free attorney or legal clinic. The results were; nothing, nada, zero. No pathway for getting this removed or going around it. I was repeatedly being reminded of that old adage; ‘You get what you pay for’. Someone totally unrelated to all this referred me to Karlie Valdez. Karlie got me a ‘Relief from Judgement’ for this conviction (i.e….it goes away). In addition, I was refunded all of my fine except for $100. I could not be more pleased. She knows her ‘stuff’. In this case that ‘stuff’ is driving related. I know she practices criminal law too. I don’t doubt that she is damn good at that as well. My daughter happened to meet Karlie a year before my DUI. She passed along her card to me, noting that I would find the list of rights on the back informative. I've known Ms. Valdez for a few years and knew she was a person of integrity, honesty and trustworthiness. I never imagined I would need a lawyer as far as me being criminally charge as I have never had a brush in with the law. Well, I used very poor judgement one night in February and was charged wi...th DUI. I spent a night in jail, my car impounded, etc...I took 100% responsibility for my actions.This all occurred 3 weeks before I had to move out of state for my job. I was worried and didn't need to lose my driving privledges or job. I was given a number of a very good lawyer with a good reputation for DUI cases but decided I'd call Ms. Valdez as I knew she would direct me to make a good choice.
