Gordon Lotzkar

Gordon has been my divorce lawyer for the last 3 years and I don't know where I'd be without him. I was very lost and had no knowledge of my rights when my ex-husband and I first separated. We have 3 children between us, and my ex was bullying me into not having to pay any child support, getting full... custody of my children, turning off all my utilities, etc. Gordon consistently explained my rights to me, gave his professional opinion, but also gave me the room to make my own decisions. I've always felt he's completely honest and transparent with me. He doesn't beat around the bush and is frank and direct. This is exactly what I needed to make my own informed decisions. My ex and I not only had a painful, drawn out divorce, but recently had to go back to mediation for other issues my ex had. Gordon once again hit the mark on every single part of mediation before, during, and after. Thanks to Gordon's counsel, every contesting part was found in my favor. There were several times I got the impression that my ex's lawyer had not counseled him well at all because Gordon was far more knowledgeable. In the end, everything was in my favor and I did not have to change a single thing. As a single working mother of 3, I don't know where I'd be without Gordon's help. He not only gives expert advice, but also has tried helping me financially by having his paralegal team do as much work as possible at a lower rate. He frequently provides things such as emails or calls at no cost, and his service is worth every penny. I have had the option several times of either representing myself or finding a different cheaper lawyer, and have never thought twice about it. I will continue to only use Gordon in the future and can rest easy knowing I have in my corner.

Writing about one's personal legal matters on a public forum is probably the last thing any of us want to do, myself include. So I feel a little reticent to leave a review, but Gordon provide great professional service, wise counsel and a good outcome so I unfortunately feel obligated. Going to c...ourt can be very uncertain but Gordon always had good counsel on potential outcomes and how to mitigate risks. Gordon has a great team. My case wasn't inexpensive but Gordon used his more junior staff as much as possible to keep my costs down and when I had the personal bandwidth I often did outlines and first drafts to help the team get headed in the right direction with the least amount of time. I'm sure there's a better family law attorney out there someplace but my estimation is Gordon is in the top 90%.

Gordon was very supportive from the start. I was in a very vulnerable position and he taught me a lot about abuse; helped me to open my eyes. He pushed me when I needed to stand up for myself which was very difficult for me, but was always respectful of my choices. He played fair with the opposing c...ounsel and was not disrespectful, as he knew this was important to me, but still fought hard for my rights. His assistant, Misti, is amazing. She is very detail oriented and does not make any mistakes; they work wonderful as a team. The office is always available within a day to respond to your needs. Gordon really puts his heart into his work and truly cares about your situation and helping you.

I can't think of a single positive thing that Lotzkar did for me. The associate that was working with me on my case left the firm after discovery and before mediation. This caused several things to be not sent to opposing council who then got an order to compel 'me' to do things I had already done an...d this was repeatedly brought up in later documents filed with the court by opposing council. Gordon personally sent over several documents I provided to him privately to opposing council that undermined my case and wrote sophomoric briefs that made no arguments at all and just called the opposing side names. He gave me literally no preparation going into mediation and was himself outwitted continuously. He paid little to no attention to the edits opposing council made to agreements he drafted and did not make me aware of them or the implications at all. I fired him before the case was done because I literally couldn't stand the lack of effort he put into the case. His impact was incredibly negative and cost me literally in the neighborhood of $100,000. For this impact I paid $30,000. The associate attorney quitting or being fired mid-case was really the turning point. I was marginalized from that moment on and charged a hefty fee for the privilege. Also, literally the day he issues you a bill he considers you late for payment. If he spent half as much time defending my interests as chasing me for money on a bill that he put out for less than a week he probably would have gotten another star. This guy is absolutely a negative factor to your team. He brags about knowing the arbitrator and knowing the court system and it means nothing and I think it encourages him to dial it in.

Gordon handled my divorce. It was an unusual case given that there was a prenuptial agreement involved and neither party was employed and we had children. He was the third lawyer I hired for the case. I wish I had hired him to begin with. Doing so would have saved me a lot of time money and grief. H...e is the perfect combination of reasonableness/ toughness and competance. I gave him the highest rating not because he got me the most money but because I got a fair settlement. He knows how to focus on the important things and will not take you down a path of arguing over the candlesticks at the rate of $300.00 and hour. Many lawyers are more than happy to have you quibble with your soon to be ex while they rack up their fees. He's absolutely trustworthy and knowledgeable. I have had three friends that have used him and all of them would use him again.
