Hands down, Best Defense Lawyer

After meeting with 4 different lawyers. I hired Mr. Missiaen for what was supposed to be a quick 3 to 4 month at most defense council. Due to unforseen circumstances the process ended up taking a long 2 and a half years. Throughout this time Mr. Missiaen was working with me, for me, and without a doubt working in ways that I am sure that to this day I am still not even aware of. Because that is the commitment he consistently showed as my representation. At every turn he went above and beyond to ensure that I maintained some since of peace and hope through the long journey. He was vigilant to put in the time, aquire the knowledge necessary, and put forth his best effort in each development of the case. He always made himself available to answer questions, clarify things, or even just talk through things to help me understand or feel better. The knowledge he possesses about law and relevent rulings, his experience as a lawyer, and in courtrooms, and ultimately his dedication are second to none. He genuinely cared about my personal situation, how the case could impact my life, and about giving me hope. He really just fought for me, and after 2 and a half years and 2 trials, it all lead to the case being dismissed. Mr. Missiaen is directly responsible for giving me a chance to live a normal life. For allowing doors of opportunity to not close, but stay open in my life that will give me every chance to succeed. And you cannot put a value on that. I owe Mr. Missiaen so much. And will forever be thankful for his services, care and determination showed throughout the time I was his client. I started my own law firm in September 2015 after working for seven years as an attorney for Southern Oregon Public Defender in Jackson County. As a public defender, I handled thousands of cases from Murder to Disorderly Conduct and everything in between. I have earned a reputation with my clients, the court, prosecutors, my colleagues, and law enforcement as a dedicated attorney who is always willing to stand up for my clients.

Before joining Southern Oregon Public Defender, I worked for two years as a personal injury attorney for Dwyer Williams Potter in Bend, Oregon. In addition to working as an attorney, I have flipped burgers at McDonalds, operated ski lifts at Mt. Bachelor, sorted mail for the post office, and installed sprinkler systems and landscaping.

I am originally from Washington, DC; I live with my wife and daughters in Medford.

About my last name: it is pronounced “mĭ·shôn” or “mih-shawn.” The name is Flemish, which means that it originates from Flanders – the Northern part of Belgium.

Highly recommended

Mr Missiaen is a very knowledgeable and forthcoming attorney. He helped on multiple occasions and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Best defense attorney in Southern Oregon

I hired Chris to defend me on multiple felony marijuana charges i received in Lake County (Lakeview, OR). Not only is Chris knowledgeable, honest, hard working, credible, prompt, attentive, fair, and detail oriented, he knows what your constitutional rights are as an Oregonian and will fight for them on your behalf. If the cops did not do their job to the letter of the law Chris will catch it and call them on it. 6 felony marijuana charges GONE, need I say more? He arranged as many hearings as he could over the phone saving me both time and money in travel. If I could give Chris 100 stars I would. You will not find a better criminal defense attorney. And finally, my two cents, if you are in the marijuana industry in Oregon have a good attorney on retainer. Peace of mind is worth every penny.

Highly Recommended

Chirs has been great through my whole experience, he acted with professionalism and convictions. He also provides a level of confidence through his knowledge of the judicial environment and puts you at ease through the process. Honest and Exceeded Expectations

Mr. Missiaen is the embodiment of integrity and honesty. He carefully communicated the risks and benefits of various decisions in my case. He was quite realistic if not conservative in his expectations of my case, so I was quite pleased when all of my charges were dismissed. He was honest with me about possible outcomes while working towards the best possible outcome. Mr. Missiaen will go above and beyond to protect your good name and solve other issues regarding your case; for instance, he quickly was able to get a publication to retract false information regarding the case. The article was retracted in mere hours. Moreover, I was charged with a new crime and he quickly was able to get the warrant withdrawn and keep me out of jail. Thankfully, all the charges included the new charge had the best possible outcome: dismissal.

Invasion of Privacy

When my son was facing arrest for I chose Chris I call him Chris on a Sunday morning and he kindly returned my call that day. After talking with him for a few minutes He was able to calm me down by telling about similar cases. He gave me free legal advice on what to do next. I knew this was the attorney for my son. Chris negotiated a plea bargain with the DA that resulted counseling and probation for what could have been a year in jail. I am grateful to Chris and give him the highest recommendation. Fair, and knowledgeable

Christopher was helpful in getting a bs harassment case against me dismissed. He was very fair with his fees, and returned money as promised when we didn't go to court. I hired him based on a referral, and the fact he had extensive experience as a public defender. He was very concientious in returning messages promptly, and keeping me informed of court dates, etc. If I ever need a criminal attorney, or am asked for a recommendation, I would be confident in recommending him.

A very delicate case

We were referred to Chris by another attorney. Our case was a child custody case and very complicated and clearly not in his field, you would think. Chris was eager for the new challenge and experience. His knowledge and experience gave 100% comfort and reassurance we were in great hands.He is always friendly, kind and very good at what he does. Rick's DUII

My case was slightly unique. While attending a wedding in Medford, Or. I was arrested for DUII. I live in Massachusetts and was unable to navigate the complex of Court Protocols and Procedures. Attorney Missiaen undertook my case and represented me in court. Best DUII Attorney in Oregon

Chris represented me in a recent DUII case which we took all the way to a jury trial. Because of Chris's knowledge of the law, his experience in the courtroom, and his due diligence, the jury came back with a NOT GUILTY VERDICT, and I was acquitted of DUII. When I had questions, he listened & answered them with sincere honesty. I always felt like we were a "team", working together to win my case. Great Attorney

Chris was a huge help in my recent case. Even with my lengthy past record, Chris negotiated a plea deal with the district attorney which was very much in my favor and avoiding any jail time. It's hard to find a good honest attorney these days and Chris is one of very few left.

Christopher Missiaen

I am writing on behalf of Christopher Missiaen to detail what a positive experience it was to see a man at the top of his profession do his job with confidence and brilliance. I was fortunate to have Mr. Missiaen be the attorney who was given my case as a public defender. Our time together spanned over 2 years with multiple court appearances. Every time Mr. Missiaen would explain what was expected and what the positives were and always with a quiet confidence of "just let me do my job." Because our case involved law enforcement early rulings that should have had the case dismissed, including a mistrial due to D.A. misconduct, was still allowed to continue. Finally we had to go to trial at which time Mr. Missiaen assured me that with a good jury open to judging just the facts, he felt we would prevail. Watching Mr. Missiaen in a trial situation was the tour de force as he articulately dissected the D.A.'s case. Needless to say we won! Happy with performance

I was lucky enough to have Mr. Missiaen assigned to me while he was still working as a public defender. I was impressed with his ability to think outside the box and to be quick on his feet in a courtroom setting. He was always upfront and honest with me as well as making me feel like my case really was important to him.
