I recently had my first experience with the criminal court system when I was charged with a DUII on a weekend. I started looking for an attorney on the internet and picked Max because after reading his website it seemed as though I would get timely, personalized service. I left a message with his a...nswering service on a Sunday and Max called me back in less than 5 minutes. He was very informative and reassuring on the phone and offered me a convenient time to meet with him the following day, so that I did not have to take any time away from work. I was very distraught going through this entire experience, and both Max and Robin could not have been more helpful, reassuring and non-judgemental. I appreciated the fact that he offered a flat fee, and he did not seem to mind how often I called or e-mailed when I had questions. I suppose that you could go through this Diversion process without hiring an attorney, but I feel that the advice and guidance I have received have been so helpful and definitely worth the cost. Although I hope to never need Max's services again, I would definitely recommend him to anyone that does.

My DUII arrest was my first encounter with the law. Because neither I nor anyone I know in the state had ever needed to hire a lawyer, I checked online reviews, such as this, for a lawyer who could help me. Max had the most positive reviews so I hired him. Mostly I wanted a lawyer (many people had... told me that a DUII arrest, when pleading guilty, does not require the assistance of a lawyer) because I had a certain concern with my driving at my job. When I called, I was impressed with both the receptionist (she was very nice and gave no indication of judging me) and the speedy appointment (I was given a meeting the following day). Max was very nice (as reviews stated) but warned me that my "special" request would be very hard to obtain due to the fact that I was in Circuit Court rather than municipal. Despite this, Max argued my case and I was granted the one thing I asked him to do. Lawyers are expensive. As I stated, I have never hired a lawyer, nor do I know anyone in Oregon who has hired a lawyer. However, I have talked to old classmates who have hired lawyers for similar issues in other states and Max's fees were below what each of them said they paid. Max also offers flat fees, which is nice, because if you have gotten a DUII you are going to pay a ton and its nice to be able to start adding it up and figuring it out without more fees being added all the time. Over all, Max lived up to his reviews that praised him for his personality and friendliness. He also delivered on the one aspect that I asked him to. If you are simply looking for someone to help you through the process or looking for someone who can deliver on special requests (such as mine), Max is your guy.

I had a DUII for marijuana that was wrongfully given to me. There was some gray areas in the trial but Max nailed it and won. Straight forward and professional. He knew what we needed in the courtroom and was on point with the states prosecutors every move. His assistant Robin was also very nice and ...helpful when I had questions or needed to contact max.

I've worked with Max twice now once with a diversion and then again in a diversion revocation hearing. Things got tense the 2nd time and we were under the gun against some faulty IID data. Prior to the courtroom hearing Max knew exactly what information we needed to gather for him to prepare the bes...t possible defense. He and his assistant Robin made the process easier to handle. We were in a packed courtroom awaiting a big sentencing that was taking place immediately following our event. The young rookie DA had the case against me with her superior in the courtroom looking on for the later event. She was over zealous, hell bent on winning and looking good. Max made her look unprepared and unprofessional. We had done the research on the events in question and had an answer for her every move. In fact she continually had to borrow discovery from Max because she didn't take the time to prepare and get it herself. Max will not bs you and make false promises but he will come up with an excellent plan. He may not have the loudest voice in the courtroom but when he speaks people listen. I hope I never have to do business with him again but If I do he is the one I will call. He is definitely going to play a big role in the Eugene courtrooms in the years to come.

I am so thankful Max was involved in my case. Several months ago, I was charged with a DUI when I wasn't even the person driving. I was forced to find a paid lawyer since I wouldn't be eligible for diversion because I was being charged with my second DUI. I work in a bar and was facing losing my liq...uor license, among hefty fines and jail time. I began researching and calling defense attorneys in Eugene, and found Max. He was so understanding and helpful. I wasn't just a way to make money to him. My finances are tight and we came up with a reasonable fee and plan that was more than fair. It took about 8 weeks, but he was able to get my DUI charge totally DISMISSED, without going to trial. The police had minimal evidence against me, but clearly were set on nailing me with this charge. I can't thank Max enough. I learned not to drive drunk after the first time, but every penny spent this time was well worth it to work with such a great and honest attorney.
