I was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon. As a native Oregonian I have many ties to the local community. After graduating from Sheldon High, I went on to receive my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon. Upon graduation, I moved to San Diego, California to work at a school for children with learning disabilities and behavioral disorders.
Determined to return to the Pacific Northwest, I received my Juris Doctorate degree from Willamette University College of Law. Upon graduation, I clerked for the Hon. Charles D. Carlson at the Lane County Circuit Court. I began my law practice with local attorney Lee Kersten focusing almost exclusively on estate planning and administration, business transactions and real estate matters.
In 2018, attorney Kirk Strohman and I combined our practices to form Strohman Ford, LLC. By limiting our practice areas to estate planning and administration, business transactions and real estate matters, we are able to provide our clients with focused, knowledgeable and cost-effective advice.
I am licensed to practice law in the State of Oregon and a member of the Lane County Bar Association, Oregon State Bar, and the American Bar Association.

Max Mizejewski, Business Attorney on Feb 1, 2012
Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
I sat next to Joel during the 2009 Oregon bar exam. I got a good sense from him then, and we both passed. Since that time, I have watched Joel progress as a judicial clerk, and currently as a successful business transactions attorney. I would highly recommend Joel to anyone seeking a top quality business lawyer.
