Incompetent in my opinioon

Incompetent lawyer who is unpleasant, overly agressive, is only concerend about how much she is going to make and bills, bills, and bills. Stay away. Read all the negative reviews. Thank God she is retiring and the bar is well served by having her gone.

Amazing

Mary was wonderful! She is smart as a whip and super kind. I felt truly heard and she fought so hard for my case which ended up turning out in my favor. I would recommend Mary to anyone, specifically folks dealing with issues from licensing boards. I could tell she was very seasoned in the issues ...and understood the best routes to take.

Always helpful

She has helped me with family law and many tears to help fight my restraining order. She and her office is very friendly.

Lost custody, paid a large amount of money, came unprepared, sued my mother for unpaid fees, lost to mother who was pro se.

My experience with Mary Johnson was not positive. She took my case very lightly because she expressed it was a an easy case. She was unprepared and I lost custody of my children four months after two custody evaluations came back stating that I should receive custody. Since the loss in custody my ...children have been subjected to unspeakable situations. Mary Johnson then continued to rack up attorney fees without consent from myself. It has been roughly two years but my belief is that the total cost of my three to four hour custody hearing was around 7k while the opposing attorney's bills were around 3k and they performed more work and clearly out performed my attorney. In addition Mary Johnson proceeded to rack up additional fees for other cases involving her own firms mistake within my dealings with her where she lost and then tried to make me responsible for her time. I refused to pay the fees and she went after my elderly mother who was kind enough to co-sign on the contract for payment. My mother represented herself because she did not have the money to pay for another attorney again. Once again, Mary Johnson lost and had to reimburse 2k of the original charges. I would not recommend this attorney for any issue. I have learned a lot from this ordeal but not from positive experiences.

Fee builder extroidinaire

We used Mary 17 Years ago for a simple real estate contract dispute. We outlined the case for her, all she had to do was write a letter, give our offer, and a week later our lesser offer. For maybe 2 to 3 hours at the most, where we outlined the case, she fee built up to $2,000, lucky for us, she ...had forgotten we had signed and agreed to pay her a $1,000 and the rest she was to collect from the other side. She was maddddd, we beat her at her own game. She said she could not "control" the other side. We specifically stated do not answer emails or calls unless it is yes to our letter. She is out for Mary and not the client, obviously she does not want repeat business. The people giving her good reviews vut not know legal issues and just paid her. She is competent, but will fee build, if you have deep pockets great

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I endorse this lawyer. I have been in the Clackamas County legal community for 26 years and have been impressed with with Mary's extraordinary knowledge of Family, Elder and Real Estate law. Mary is clearly responsive and aggressive in advocating for her clients. She is a resource for me in referring people who have legal issues for which I cannot help. I endorse her without reservation.
