also known as Mary W. Johnson, P.C.
Mary is a member of the Oregon State Bar, the Washington State Bar, the US District Court for the District of Oregon, the US District Court for the Western District of Washington, and the US Supreme Court. Mary also participates in the Real Estate & Land Use, Family Law, and Administrative Law Sections of the Oregon State Bar.
As a lawyer in Oregon, Mary worked in the General Counsel’s Office of the Oregon Department of Justice, then in the Litigation and Real Estate Departments of Stoel Rives, and then for Oregon Senator Ken Baker, before establishing her general civil practice in Oregon City in 1992. She handles transactional, trial, appellate and administrative hearing matters. She served as a court-annexed arbitrator from 1994 to 2012, and was on the Oregon City Planning Commission from 1994 to 1998. Since 1999, Mary has represented health care and survey professionals under investigation by their occupational licensing board, the Department of Human Services or the Oregon Attorney General. Mary employs her health care and governmental background and big firm experience to deliver highly skilled and personalized attention to her clients.
Mary has been a frequent writer and speaker on a wide range of subjects, including easements, financial elder abuse, neighbor law, civil procedure, and evidentiary standards. She established legal standards for willful child neglect and relevancy of evidence in Campuzano v. Peck, 175 Or App 292 (2001) and for de novo review and rebuttal of presumptions in Lawrence v. Clackamas County, 164 Or App 462 (1999).
Having observed the drain of litigation on parties’ finances, time, energy, emotions and resources, only to be handed down a remedy that ends the parties’ relationships but not the dispute, Mary concluded that there must be a better way to resolve disputes. Mary trained as a mediator in 2010 and served as a mediator of small claims in the Multnomah County Circuit Court and the Clackamas County Circuit Court. Mary served as a facilitator in the Oregon Foreclosure Avoidance Program from 2012-2015.

Thorough
I felt that Mary and her staff did a thorough job with my licensing issue. She made sure all of the I's were dotted, the T'swere crossed and ducks were in rows. She communicated well, but occasionally needed prompting. It ended up taking quite a bit longer than expectd, but I feel that her organiz...
"I endorse this lawyer. I have been in the Clackamas County legal community for 26 years and have been impressed with with Mary's extraordinary knowledge of Family, Elder and Real Estate law. Mary is clearly responsive and aggressive in advocating for her clients. She is a resource for me in referring people who have legal issues for which I cannot help. I endorse her without reservation.
