Had a consultation with Dennis Lempert which turned into an hour long lecture that had little to do with my case. This attorney was very demanding and made me feel pressured to hire him after he wasted valuable time I could have spent looking for a respectable and qualified attorney in the area.
Dennis even went so far as to trash other attorneys that I had mentioned I spoke to concerning my case. This felt very odd to me and was the first red flag. On top of it all, he was extremely condescending and judgemental about my case. Seems odd coming from a guy who defends child molesters as I later found out.
His whole office and professionalism reminded me of one of those shabby lawyers that advertise on television or the radio (except way more expensive). When he finally got to his fee (twice as much as nearly everyone else I consulted) I believe he had totally forgotten what my case was concerning. He just threw in a bunch of legal jargon to try to confuse me. Nothing about this man seems honest.
Dennis will eat up your time, give you no constructive feedback, all the while patronizing you and making you feel guilty for not hiring him after his hour long rant. It is clear that his age is catching up with him and after doing some research it doesn't seem like he obtains desirable results for any of his clients.
I contacted Mr. Lempert to seek legal advice for a recent misdemeanor-level complaint I was facing in the Bay Area. I met with Dennis, and he assured me that he would take care of my case and "make it go away."
After charging me $1500, Dennis not only neglected to follow through with the District attorney and the police facility to check on the status as he assured me he would, but he totally forgot about my case. Every time I called Dennis, he was completely confused about a) who I was and b) the status of my case.
It turns out that the case was dismissed around the time I first sought consultation, but the notice took a couple of weeks to reach me in the mail. The case was dismissed based on local policy to not charge people in minor alcohol-related offenses for their first offense. Dennis, an ostensible long-term practicing attorney who worked with the DA at some point totally neglected to tell me of this policy which someone of his standing ought to know. This means that that he took my money knowing that he would have to do no work for the case.
In the end, I am $1500 short and Dennis is completely obstinate in granting me a refund.
This is an excellent attorney.
He is well known in the court system here in Santa Clara County and is EXTREMELY knowledgeable in the law.
If you knew what he did for me in my day of court you wouldn't question him.
He did MAGIC for me and ever since that day I realized YOU NEED AN ATTORNEY IN COURT.
