Biography
The most important aspect of being a lawyer to me is effective communication between myself and my clients. I believe it is my responsibility to ensure my clients understand their legal rights and responsibilities even if it may be something they do not want to hear. I think too many attorneys tell their clients what they want to hear. You should always be skeptical if your attorney tells you exactly what you want to hear. I think my lawyering skills have been developed throughout my lifetime whether it was when I would negotiate with my parents to stay up longer when I was a child or when I was studying for law school exams.
However, I have developed my courtroom skills through hundreds of bench trials in Sacramento County. Many of the cases were in the Juvenile Dependency system. In these cases I fought for my clients to maintain their children when Child Protective Services had removed them from the home. During these cases, I cross examined expert witnesses, produced evidence at trial and wrote my own motions and briefs in support of my clients when necessary. The relationship between a parent and child is one of the most fundamental and I strived to preserve it in every case.
I also bring significant courtroom experience in the areas of criminal law including DUI and Suspended Driver’s License cases. I represented defendants in Sacramento, Yolo, Stanislaus, and Placer counties in these areas.
Prior to my litigation experience, I negotiated settlements with the Internal Revenue Service on behalf of taxpayers who were unable to pay their taxes due to an inability to pay. These negotiations taught me the importance of resolution in legal matters as well as it helped me develop unique ways to problem solve.
I was born and raised in Northern California. I graduated the University of California, Riverside with a B.A. in Political Science in 1999. I attended Santa Clara University School of Law and graduated with a J.D. in 2002. I am licensed to practice law in the State of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Actually answered his phone!
Most of the time you call and it takes days to get a reply, or you get voice mail or a receptionist.Ross Meltzer actually anwered his phone. He listened to my situation but unfortuantely he is in N. CA but I'm in S. Ca. Yet he searched for a referral and took the time to understand my case.
