The same can be said of the entire divorce industry: most of the actors,(i.e. opposing lawyers, judges, mediators, ect.), are parasitic and seem to thrive on dealing with human misery; to them you are ...just a faceless number, and a transaction. That is why it is so important you find a good counselor of impeccable character to fiercely defend your interests. Richard Dwyer is exactly the type of lawyer you want representing you. First, he is someone of integrity, who possesses empathy. He treats you like a human being during a challenging time in your life. Second, he is a skilled strategist and negotiator. Not being a lawyer, the family law process for divorce and custody can be daunting; Richard distills an esoteric process in a way that is accessible, and helps you navigate the journey in a logical manner that is always focused on achieving your agreed upon objectives. He is results oriented. Finally, when it comes to finalizing a settlement,(for custody or property), he is a tenacious defender of your rights and interests. When your opposition attempts to pull aggressive legal maneuvers, or re-trade deals in bad faith, Richard disarms the conflict by being knowledgable, and forceful, thereby forging agreements where others may have squandered opportunities. I hope to never have to go through a divorce process,(or litigation of any sorts), ever again. But if faced with such adversity, I would find strength in the knowledge that Richard Dwyer would be there fighting for my best interests.

I met with Richard for a consultation and I must say I was very impressed. He is extremely intelligent (Stanford Law Grad) and is incredibly friendly and compassionate. I was totally clueless on what to do and how to do it . Mr Dwyer made my divorce much better than I had imagined. He advised me of All my options and explained why things were in my best interest. Very open to listen to me and my concerns, remembered important details. Any questions I had he answer...ed at anytime. He valued my time as well.

I tried about 20 lawyers for my contract breach case, as well as my contract drafting needs. The thing about choosing a lawyer, which I hate, is I always feel like I am wasting their time, and that they will charge me an enormous fee to do something really simple for them. Richard had performed... a highly detailed legal analysis of my case, even bringing in a colleague to look at it....without charging me a single penny. He called and spent a half hour on the phone with me explaining everything...and this was all from an email I sent him. He didn't charge me a dime. Later I asked him to draft my contract, and he plainly told me it would only take an hour. He gives you the out-the-door costs right away and does not try to charge you extra. He is also much more informed than a number of attorney's and he VICIOUSLY protects your best interests. This guy will not let anyone trample on you. Once you work with him, you are completely protected.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If you have unlimited time and patience for needless delays, maybe he’s your guy. For everyone else — run in the opposite direction. I hired Richard for what should have been a simple, uncontested divorce — no kids, a clear asset split, and some paperwork already prepared by m...y previous lawyer. On our first call, he seemed attentive and repeatedly assured me he would “work on my time” — a line I now know was entirely untrue. Once he took over, everything changed. Communication was nonexistent and disorganized, if any. Getting even basic questions answered required multiple follow-ups by email and phone, often over weeks. He frequently started new email threads without resolving or answering my questions in the old ones, and despite promising follow-up call and despite my request multiple times, he never scheduled a single phone call. NOT A SINGLE CALL in the entire year! Numerous calls to the office and all I heard was - "he is busy right now", "do you want to leave a VM?", "he will call you back" but he never did. Over the course of an entire year, the only document he managed to file was his substitution of attorney from the previous lawyer. That’s it. He stalled endlessly on even the smallest changes to the MSA, showed zero initiative, and offered no guidance or strategy. When I finally expressed my frustration, he responded with sarcasm and dismissiveness, even mocking me for wanting to move faster because I had kept the divorce on hold earlier - due to very personal and traumatic reasons that I had shared with him before. His behavior was consistently rude, unprofessional, and indifferent. This case could have been closed long ago if not for his inaction. Instead, I wasted a full year, countless hours, and significant emotional energy. I decided to use self-help after having had enough of his pathetic attitude and guess what? Just about all the forms that he had filled and never filed with the court had multiple mistakes. You're better off just doing DIY than relying on someone like him.
