Dissapointed

Very disappointed with the service i recieved. This law firm charged me $3,500 just to show up. They did nothing! I could have easily accepted the first offer given to me and paid NOTHING if I had not used them. $3,500 is said to be the retainer fee BUT will include trial if we went to trial. We did... not go to trial. I feel my 1,000 dollar deposit should have covered what little they did do. Thank you for taking advantage of someone who is already in a bad spot

Above and Beyond

I met with Christopher Martens for a free consultation for some rather steep charges. I arrived terrified feeling on the verge of unraveling by what seemed to be the bleakest of circumstances. Mr. Martens and his staff were very welcoming and warm. I spoke with him about the circumstances surround...ing my case which he took in and leveled with me without sugar coating anything. He gave me multiple scenarios of how these charges could unfold. Ultimately he said he thought my case was not near as bleak as it appeared to me based on the information that I had provided to him. Each moment that he spent talking to me about my legal options I finally began to feel a sense of hope and security that thus far I had not. I felt confident in him and his firm and planned on retaining them. However a few hours after I left I found out that my significant other whom was charged with the same crime had just been arraigned and that all charges had been rejected. I was unsure what that meant for my case and so I phoned Mr. Martens for clarification. Mr. Martens informed me that he would contact me the next day after he spoke with the DA about whether or not my case was being pursued. He did just as he said and called me first thing the next morning to notify me that my case had indeed been rejected at this time by the DA and charges had been dropped. He also spoke to me about what to expect such as two court appearances that I would still need to attend. I asked him if I needed counsel at them and he stated he did not believe so, but if I needed him I could call. He continued to help me without my even asking with my bail. Throughout all of this Mr. Martens had not been retained by me and neither did he ask for any monetary reimbursement for his counsel. His professionalism and compassion astounded me as I, like many others, am plagued with preconceived notions of attorneys. In the end I not only left feeling hope for my future, but at the risk of sounding sappy or ingratiating, I also felt hope in people as well when throughout all of this I had begun to distrust everyone. In short, or long as this review has turned out to be, if I am ever in any legal need of any kind I consider myself to have an attorney and need not comb through endless lists blindly hoping to find someone to represent me in a matter as crucial as to determine my entire future. Thank you to Mr. Martens and his entire staff for everything they did for me. Thank you........

You're Still A Good Person

Mistakes are made, careless actions take place everyday. This doesn't mean your a bad person. I'm a hard working man with two jobs trying to get out of debt and live a better life. After a long stressful draining 16hr day I had a vodka cocktail right after work. I lived very close and me being a... bigger guy I thought one drink was ok. My coworker had asked me for a ride... long story short I was arrested for DUI. I hired Christopher Martens as my attorney. He made me feel comfortable. There was not one ounce of judgement in his eyes. I felt he saw the good person in me when I was disappointed and couldn't see it in myself. He was confident that I could reduce my DUI to a wet and reckless and he did just so. After settling my case, I feel like I have a second chance. This time not taking these situation so lightly and carefree. Thank you Christopher Martens.

Wrongly Accused

I'm not sure how to properly thank Christopher for taking my case and making me feel confident and comfortable when I needed it the most. He listened when I ranted. He heard my concerns when I was completely freaked out and was understanding to what I was going through. I'm a single Dad of three li...ttle kids who I sacrifice my world for and I was about to lose everything I had because someone had no regard for me as a person, parent or human being. I was falsely accused and prosecuted for a criminal offense that I never did nor happened. I woke up one August morning to find out I was being charged by Kings County and that I could face a year in jail, heavy fines and my life completely upended. I was appointed a public defender who I felt ; showed no empathy for my situation and already deemed me to face some sort of penalty just because "if the shoe fits". They had no evidence to support their case but went ahead and took five months of my life anyway... I felt robbed . Mr. Martens from day one was confident that a successful outcome would be the case and that's the only thing he would fight for.... We weren't excepting any pleas or Deal........ So... DISMISSED. For lack of evidence...... Thank You Mr. Martens and Staff!!! I can breath again. Even though my time with you was brief, my appreciation will last for life.... Sincerely, Brian

"I have seen Chris Martens in court for about 8 years now. Chris is a dedicated defense attorney who has a great reputation in local Kings and Tulare County courts for being willing to take a case to trial. Some attorneys shy away from trial and sometimes that is shown by the lack of good deals they get for their client in court. But Chris developed a reputation early in his practice as an effective fighter. If your future freedom is in doubt, I recommend Chris Martens as your attorney."
