I hired Christopher Whelton to assist me with a DUI charge. I am from Colorado, and the offense took place in San Diego County, complicating legal and communication matters. Mr. Whelton was very professional in all of our conversations, obtained the necessary information from me, and proceeded to work with the courts to my favor. He kept me informed every step of the way, and explained the legal process to me in a way that I understood, while not pattonizing me at any time during our client/lawyer relationship. I strongly recommend Mr. Whelton for any matters involving a DUI charge (which is the only experience I have with him)

Attorney Whelton came to court on time and prepared. He was able to get my MIP of Alcohol dropped down to a lesser charge of Disturbing the Peace. Originally I was facing loosing my license for a year but he was able to reduce that to a $239 fine. I was very pleased with Attorney Whelton.

Absolutely Amazing experience with Mr. Whelton. Mr. Whelton took my FELONY GRAND THEFT case and was able to get it DISMISSED! We could not be happier, Chris fought to the very end for us, we were in and out of the courtroom for almost a year. Chris just absolutely went above and beyond to make sure I got what was owed to me, a complete dismissal of all charges! He went to bat for me against the deputy DA for Riverside county and Triumphed. I could not be more impressed, ecstatic really with the results, unfortunately the legal system is set so people will plea out. I am so grateful for the victory, the effort, the energy, and the time that Mr. Whelton put into assuring my dismissal. If I ever need a lawyer again Chris Whelton will absolutely be my first call! Thank You So Much Mr. Whelton!

After getting my second DUI I didn't know what to do. The sense of shame, panic, fear of jail time and the unknown was overwhelming. I received several letters from lawyers offering their services, luckily the letter from Mr. Whelton was the one I chose. I met with him and was immediately impressed with his professionalism, honesty and straightforwardness regarding the process. I immediately asked him to represent me and we went forward. My anxiety was relieved as he explained exactly what was required of me, when and how. His staff is remarkably helpful, and knowledgable, returning my calls in a timely manner and answering any question that I had. If you need a lawyer that is there for you 100 percent retain Mr. Whelton.

I have had some slip ups in life and was directed to Mr. Whelton by a very highly respected and esteemed corporate lawyer we have worked with. I will always be grateful for that. I have hired Mr. Whelton 3 times now. Through each case he was prompt, sharp and really worked with me to get through the charges. He is one of the few lawyers who is actually honest with you and will give you real advice. I was even pulled aside outside of the courtroom and told by one of the LA county district attorneys that the only reason I was given the minimum jail time in my second DUI case was that my lawyer truly represented me well and fought for my character.
Mr. Whelton has great relationships with multiple court officials and has built a reputation that truly helps you as his client. I recently hired him for another case involving domestic violence claims against me. Mr. Whelton knowing my character wrote a letter to the D.A. before my court date and through a simple conversation was able to have the case fully thrown out. I did not even have to walk into court. I was extremely relieved and grateful but on top of that he even was so kind as to refund me some of the money I paid him. He literally gave me money back because of how quickly the case ended. He knows that I am trying to start a new business so I think that may have played into it but none the less the man gave me money back for doing a perfect job for me. Could not be more grateful.
God willing I will not need him again but if you do need a criminal attorney he is one you should call.

It was my 3rd DUI in less than 10 years, with a violation of probation. I was facing a minimum of 120 days in County Jail and then some. I was scared beyond my wildest nightmares. From Day 1 Attorney Whelton calmed my fears and explained clearly and concisely what the law stated and what he believed he could do for me with honesty and candidness. He gave me his personal cell number and throughout the entire process answered my texts, calls, and emails. He is persistent, consistent, honest, dedicated, caring, and hard-working.
I went from facing jail time, to having ZERO jail time. With my extended medical history of birth defects and malformations Mr. Whelton went to bat for me, tooth and nail, and was able to argue my unique case successfully.
Throughout the process I watched other people walk up to the lectern when their name was called and their attorneys would stand a few paces ahead of them just shy of the prosecution's table. Mr. Whelton didn't do that. He stood right by my side. Just like from day one, and every step of the way leading to sentencing.
After his successful plea agreement with the DA, I stepped in front of the judge for final sentencing and Mr. Whelton stood right by my side. After the judge spoke with me about my sentencing she looked at Mr. Whelton and said the following:
"Congratulations counselor. Job well done."
I couldn't agree more.
Thank you so much Attorney Whelton!

Our world was turned upside down after our son was charged with 5 serious felonies and the possibility of an 18 year state prison sentence due to a DUI, causing serious injury, with prescription pain medication in his blood.
We didn’t know where to turn for professional help, but after reviewing the AVVO attorneys’ website, we made the best decision of our life by choosing Attorney Whelton!
With his outstanding knowledge of the law, he rallied for months, convincing the DA, Judge and the court system that our son was not a “typical felon”. He made one very bad choice to drive while impaired, which resulted in these terrible charges, but he deserved to be given another chance at life. Atty. Whelton presented multiple letters of good character references, as well as exceptional military service and awards or son received while in the military. Due to these charges, his entire 12 year exemplary military career was lost, along with all future benefits!
Attorney Whelton is very honest, ethical and thorough! He patiently and clearly answered all our questions (and there were many throughout this ordeal), no matter how many times we called him, or stopped by his office. Attorney Whelton gave us his cell phone number and returned our multiple text messages, e-mails, and phone calls. He even returned our urgent text message on a SUNDAY! Who does that? He will tell you the law, the facts, and all possible outcomes in great detail, not just what you want to hear.
In the final moments, while facing the judge prior to sentencing, the DA produced a last minute letter, which could have seriously affected the judges ruling. In the judge’s chambers, Chris was able to persuade the judge to disregard the letter, and stick to her previous promise to the family, that our son would not go to state prison if he completed a four-month county rehab program, and followed strict terms of probation!
Chris Whelton achieved the best possible outcome! WOW! From a possible 18 years in PRISON, to one year in County Jail (including the four-month county rehab program) and probation.
We can never thank you enough, Attorney Whelton!

i called chris with concerns about my case and was ready to retain him as my lawyer and just needed a few minutes to get my down payment ready. i called back with credit card in hand ready to pay and chris gets on the line. he had already called the district attorney to get info on my case(he started working immediately for me)and what happened next was amazing. he could of taken my down payment and ran with my money but he was honest and very ethical when he informed me that the district attorney was not going to file my case! he could have gotten an easy pay day but he did the right thing and told me about it and saved me and my family so much money and for that i will always be grateful for an attorney like him. most will just take your money and run but chris is a stand up honest guy i reccomend to anyone!

When I was arrested i thought my life was over. I had never been in trouble with the law before, lived an outstanding life serving in the community, and had a "slip up". So i did a little research and found Attorney Whelton. During the consultation he was very upfront and honest. He is a STRAIGHT shooter. He will tell you the facts, not what you want to hear, which i respect. I was arrested on felony charges and pleaded guilty to a disturbing the peace misdemeanor. The DA and judge said that they had never seen this happen before with my circumstances (swat was called to my house, I was passed out drunk, but noone knew that). Attorney Whelton gave me his cell number and returned my multiple text messages, phone calls and questions. I stopped by his office and his staff was very friendly and helpful. He is not only a great lawyer but an upstanding guy. i would highly recommend attorney Whelton.
His fees are very reasonable and they are accomodating as well!!!

My world was turned upside down after being charged with two felonies and in need of a lawyer, so I hired Attorney Whelton. I am a real person, with real life issues, never been in trouble, no criminal record and I was facing charges that challenged the very core of who I am. My story is real. What I went through was very emotional and left my spirit broken. I am a licensed professional and was facing two felonies, possible jail time and the possibility of losing my professional license which is my family's livelihood. Words CAN NOT describe enough what a unique individual Attorney Whelton is, and his outstanding knowledge of the law. He exhibited compassion, was non-judgmental, persistent, consistent, honest, dedicated, hard-working, and he truly believed in me and my case. He went above and beyond what a lawyer would do for ANY client. He set up a special meeting for me with the District Attorney! When does that EVER happen? He rallied for me for months convincing, the DA, Judge and the court system that I deserved to be given another chance at life. He did that for me. A single mother who really didn't have a leg to stand on. I left the court with two misdemeanors. Misdemeanors!!!!! I literally walked away from two strikes (Three strikes Law). Just because you pay for a lawyer doesn't always mean they will be able to provide you with the best outcome. Attorney Whelton defended me until the end, by my side, and allowed me to reclaim my life. I will forever be in debt to him! I truly mean this from the bottom of my heart.
