As the founder of Jones Legal, Jennifer Jones provides her clientele with a wealth of experience. She has legal experience in nearly every area of law and is licensed to practice law in California and Georgia jurisdictions. Ms. Jones has chosen to focus the firm’s practice primarily in the areas of personal injury, workers’ compensation, contract law (document drafting, dispute mitigation, and negotiations), Estate Planning (wills & trusts), and entertainment law.
Prior to launching Jones Legal, Ms. Jones worked for firms in a wide range of practice areas. She began her legal career at an Estate Planning law office. This boutique law office exemplified client dedication. This level of client commitment did not go unnoticed by Ms. Jones. She adopted this work ethic throughout her legal career.
Ms. Jones then served as a judicial extern for the late Honorable Warren J. Ferguson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Here, she gained a valuable and intimate insight into the legal system, not afforded to most attorneys.
Ms. Jones then began service in a family law clinic. This law clinic provided free legal aide to low income clients in need of assistance with family law matters. Here, she was driven by the needs of clients, not their pocketbooks. Throughout her legal career she continued to employ her legal talents to serving the community by preparing tax returns to low income families and individuals through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
Ms. Jones also worked at a boutique full-service law firm. Here, she represented clients in contracts, probate, criminal, family, tax, and entertainment law matters. This fast-paced environment afforded her the opportunity to sharpen her critical thinking skills and ability to handle complex cases.
Ms. Jones next worked as a member of a tort litigation practice group with a national law firm. She analyzed voluminous document productions assessing relevance to pertinent legal issues for Fortune 500 corporate clients during the e-discovery process.
Ms. Jones served as defense counsel to one of the largest school districts in the country. During this tenure, she handled special education litigation under the purview of state and federal disability laws. She successfully represented her client in due process hearings, appeals, civil rights investigations, federal and state departments of education complaints, labor and employment issues, Title IX claims, and First Amendment issues.
Her workers’ compensation experience consists of representing injured workers. At these firms, she provided representation for complex cases, drafted petitions, developed rebuttals to inadequate permanent disability ratings, and tried cases. Ms. Jones has extensive experience negotiating settlements and has successfully petitioned for removal and reconsideration before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board.
Ms. Jones earned a B.A. in Rhetoric with a minor in Education from the University of California, Berkeley. She earned Master of Education degree from Pepperdine University. She earned a Juris Doctorate from Western State University, College of Law where she graduated cum laude and served on the law review. Before attending law school she was an elementary school teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District. She also assisted in drafting a charter school petition.
As a seasoned attorney, Ms. Jones exhibits excellent client relationship skills. After nearly a decade of representing a vast array of clients in various legal disciplines, she has gained valuable insight and superb problem-solving skills necessary to effectively represent you in your legal matter.
