Eric W. Ching

Review of Ching & Seto Law I recently contacted Ching & Seto Law by phone, and it took an excessively long time for someone to answer. When a male voice finally came on the line, I explained that I had been referred to this firm and wanted to arrange a consultation to discuss my case. I was asked ...numerous questions about my situation, and after a considerable amount of time, he asked where and when it would be convenient for me to come into the office, and which office I would prefer, San Diego or Indian Wells. An appointment was set up with Mr. Eric Ching, and I was given their address in Indian Wells. When I arrived at the law office at the designated time, it was located in a business complex. I walked into an empty facility with little activity. Finally, someone approached me and asked if they could help. I told them I had an appointment with Mr. Eric Ching. The person responded that they did not know of a Mr. Ching and that I had the wrong address. I pointed to the sign on the outer door which read "Ching & Seto Law." I was then told to have a seat and just wait for Mr. Ching. I waited for over 20 minutes and decided to call Mr. Ching's office. Again, it was a lengthy wait before someone came on the line. I asked to speak with Mr. Ching and was told he was not available. I explained that I was at the office waiting for Mr. Ching as I had a 3:30 appointment. They had no idea where Mr. Ching was and said they would have him call me. I am still waiting. No return telephone call, no explanation, no apology, NOTHING. This is the most unprofessional law firm, or business, that I have ever encountered, and I have dealt with many professionals over the years. I would definitely NOT recommend this firm to anyone! His practice seems to me to be premised on the basic idea that his time is valuable, but his client's time is not. I am a busy executive, with a packed calendar, travel, constant work demands, etc. etc. and I reached out to him because I needed someone to take care of an issue for me in a professi...onal manner. In addition to issues in scheduling the initial consultation (I was told how to contact him, and then when the appointment time came, I was told I couldn't contact him in that way -- and was met with insulting suggestions about what to do, wasting my time) ... It seems he decided that he didn't wish to represent me but left me with a false impression that we were moving forward. After waiting a lengthy amount of time (2 months) to hear from him about next steps, I followed up and he informed me that not only had he not taken the action we discussed, but he wasn't representing me at all. In short, this attorney may be fine for some people, but if you are a busy person, don't have time for nonsense, and expect clear and straightforward communication from the outset, I recommend you look elsewhere.

I had a consultation with Eric and was disappointed. While Eric appears to try to answer your question, I found that he spent several minutes answering a question that I did not ask (regarding removal of contingencies) -- it was not an issue; and when I asked my key question, he did not appear to kn...ow the answer and then become somewhat arrogant and agitated in my view. I recommend you find another attorney. In fact, I spoke with another attorney (in Irvine) who gave me much better advice and was actually helpful, unlike Eric.

Our landlord was insisting that we sign a new lease for 1 year (our initial year was almost complete) and we kindly asked for a month to month contract. We were excellent tenants who took care of the house. Normally a landlord can refuse and we all move on. But this was during covid and we ha...d no intention of moving. Eric ameliorated the situation through suggested courses of action without ever having to file a claim or do any formal proceedings. He is patient and really knows real estate law.
