David J. Ruyle, Jr. focuses his practice in San Diego on Restrainging Orders and Criminal Defense. He is a native to San Diego. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University in 1998 and his law degree from Trinity Law School in 2002. During law school Mr. Ruyle interned with the San Diego County Public Defender’s office where he was exposed to felony related matters.
After working for a few years as an attorney on DUI and other criminal matters, he had a calling to better understand the public perception of law enforcement and the realities officers face. That calling led him to attend a California POST certified Police Academy in 2007 and become a Reserve Police Officer with the City of El Cajon. As a police officer, he was certified to use the PAS and Intoximeter to determine level of intoxication. He was exposed not only to the policies and procedures a police department and its officers must follow but effects they have on the community. During his commission as an officer he was exposed to drunk drivers, domestic violence, and narcotics offenders along with many other issues a patrol officer encounters on a daily basis. He enjoyed his participation in many community outreach events sponsored by the police department.
While he was a reserve police officer he continued his legal practice representing clients in criminal matters and was able to effectively apply his experience as a police officer to his cases and addressing his clients’ needs. He has since resigned his commission with the City of El Cajon but has a passion for sharing what he learned. He was able to share his real world and academic experience as an adjunct professor in the Criminal Justice Department of both Westwood College and the University of Phoenix. He now continues to work with students studying for the Bar Exam.
As a criminal defense attorney, Mr. Ruyle has represented clients charged with misdemeanors such as DUIs, domestic violence, drug possession and theft to felony cases such as severe domestic violence, burglary, robbery and narcotics. He takes pride in understanding his clients’ situations and being attentive to their needs while seeking a favorable outcome for their case. Also of importance to him is his clients’ ultimate well-being and the correction of any patterns of behavior that may be the underlying factor in their criminal case.
A few years before COVID he transitioned his focus to Restraining Orders. Since then the majority of his case load is now Domestic Violence and Civil Harassment Restraining Order on behalf of either Petitioner or Respondent.
Mr. Ruyle is in good standing with the State Bar of California, a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and California Public Defender’s Association.

When hiring a lawyer, you want a true professional that knows their stuff! David is extremely knowledgeable and informative. I feel confident having him on speed dial if I ever need help with anything with courts. I’ve hired multiple lawyers in my life for the various businesses I’ve done and David i...

David Ruyle Jr. Has His License Suspended for Theft
This guy stole multiple peoples money and left them hanging. He had to pay all the money back to these poor, unknowing people. David stole money from me and never gave my funds back or even show up to court. Do not hire!

Incompetent Attorney Save your money
I contacted a law firm to be represented in a Restraining Order from my parents who fabricated facts because I would NOT give them $30,000 for their gambling debts and junkets. David was a bait and switch and an incompetent attorney. If I could give him 0 stars I would. He couldn’t win a case ...
I have never been so mistreated and had my time and efforts taken advantage of in my career. If I was so terrible why was I continued to be retained for over 10 months and over several appearances.? Then approximately 10 months after the case is resolved a review is posted? If a client does not follow my advice it is next to impossible to have a favorable or successful outcome.

Took My Money and Never Showed Up to the Hearing
David Ryule Jr. is not to be trusted. He took money from me for a criminal case and disappeared. He has had his license revoked by the State Bar of California for taking peoples money and not telling them the truth. You can find the complaint on the California State Bar’s website. Avoid! I've also...
This appears to be a duplicate review. This reviewer signs in as anonymous and then creates another fake name. I don't understand how AVVO can allow one to continue to post over and over anonymously. Again. I have never stolen money from a client. I am still very active in my practice with multiple appearances everyday. I am easy to find and get ahold of so no disappearance here. Again. I didn't take People's money and not tell them the truth. I was disciplined for not having a license in the state where my client resided where I assisted him a loan modification. I was not only successful but also they were refunded their money. So where is the taking of money and disappearing occurring?

David Ruyle Jr. Is Not to be Trusted!
I hired David Ruyle Jr. to represent me for my criminal matter. He took my money and never went to the hearing. I had to hire another attorney to represent me for the matter. Upon further discovery, I found that David Ruyle Jr. had his license suspended by the California State Bar for stealing money ...
I have never stolen money from a client. I have appeared on every case I have ever been retained on. Yes I was suspended by the Bar. It is public information. I was not suspended for stealing money but for helping save homes of clients that lived in other states during the foreclosure crisis. Not only did I perform the services and save their home they were refunded their money. So dear "anonymous" you have me over a barrel because you can continue to slander me while you hide behind AVVO and I am bound by the law from publicly responding you and revealing the details about you and your case. So I would ask that you please remove your review's false information, You can have our opinion of me on a 1-5 star rating but don't provide false information.
"I have worked with David on several matters, and I can express firsthand the thorough knowledge he has within the criminal defense arena, and he provides exceptional service and customer care. I highly recommend David."
