When my husband and I decided to get married, we started looking for an immigration lawyer. My husband is a naturalized US citizen and I was a working visa holder in the US. The nature of my job is project based, and this can be difficult for someone who requires company sponsored visas, because when... I finished a project, I sometimes have to look for employment in a different company, and had to start the visa process all over again, my husband(then fiancée ) really wanted me to stop stressing over visas, so we decided to settle down together after dating each other for 3 years. We started looking at yelp reviews for attorneys and had consultations with perhaps 3 different lawyers, Romben stood out to us, because he was very friendly and sweet. I was very nervous about having to consult a lawyer, since I didn’t understand all the “lawyer lingos”. But Romben was very easy to talk to. He broke down what the process is like, and asked us to describe our situation in details, and gave us reassurance that our case will be a painless one (I guess as painless as marriage based green cards go haha) It was not a hard decision to hire Romben for our case, he was very responsive, we emailed each other back and forth a couple times and Romben always give us detailed answers to our questions. His assistant Ana came in and had us fill out questionnaires and listed materials we had to prepare. Some of our documents needed translations, and the firm also provided us contact to such services. We pretty much have the package ready to go in a week after exchanging our vows in front of the Pasadena city hall, this was including the medical documents. The firm mailed out all our materials for us, Romben checked through all the files before sending them out. For someone like me who’s always over worrying, this thoroughness really puts my heart at ease. After that, whenever the USCIS updates our case, the firm will always keep us alerted as well, they sent us all the reminders to mail in the RFE and the biometric appointments, Ana was very patient whenever I came to her with a hundred questions, and always answered them in details. I recently received my conditional green card in the mail. We mailed out the applications in December, mailed the RFE in March, and got the card in June. I had a friend who started her marriage based green card process months before me, but I ended up getting my green card before she did. I can’t help but think this is due to the help from the Fong and Aquino law firm, I trusted Romben through the whole process. Romben once asked us why we picked him from a sea of yelp reviews, and I told him it was because he felt very “human”. I guess I really wanted to work with someone who is kind and caring, who I feel like I can ask them everything and not be treated like I’m wasting their time. And I’m glad Romben was exactly what we were looking for. Our running jokes through out a dozen email exchange, is that he’s actually “a robot who is pretending to be a human this whole time” and I always find that amusing.

My husband and I hired Romben to prepare our visa filing and we have had nothing short of an incredible experience working with him. Initially when vetting different firms to handle our immigration matter, we were looking for an attorney who was responsive and timely with their filings. Romben and hi...s team were on top of our filing throughout the entire process and Romben made himself available to us for questions as needed. We ended up getting our visa months earlier than anticipated and the process for us was seamless. We recommend Romben to all of our friends or colleagues that require assistance or have questions on immigration matters and would use Fong Aquino again ourselves! Thank you Romben and team!
