I made a pretty dumb mistake over the summer and earned myself a misdemeanor charge while at a concert. I am a hardworking student at a university and did not have so much as a parking ticket on my record. I knew the offense was serious, but I didn't know how serious until I called Anita. I told her ...my concerns and she explained that it could end up being worse than I thought. She told me that she has handled a few cases like mine before and that she had a plan of action that would give me the best odds of getting my charge reduced. A year ago I was run off the road by a "road-raged" driver who in my view attempted to induce an accident with me. It ended with me trying to evade/pass him but he "gunned it" to block me off and we literally tapped bumpers as I got around him. I feared for my safety and fled the scene thinking th...at would be the end of it. Nine months later I received a warrant for my arrest in the mail! I couldn't believe that this was happening, and I called Anita Patel for a free consultation. She was out of town but sent a colleague to meet me on my court date. The warrant was cleared and court dates were set. She then took over and did what she could to try minimize my penalties. It was too late for me to file my side of the police report, and having left the scene I was assumed guilty by insurance companies! Both the courts and police had failed to contact me until the warrant letter I got, by which time the "victim" had had his car repaired to the tune of over $3000! Note: never leave the scene of an accident, or lock your car and call the police on someone who runs you off the road if there is ANY contact between vehicles. Anita understood my story, and did her best to contact the victim who of course stayed away from her calls. Having had a prior DUI seven years ago, although expunged, did not help my case. On paper, the court assumes guilt (and intoxication) if you leave the scene of a "hit and run"---so the best I could do is trust Anita to get this behind me with the least painful outcome. I had to pay a fine and got two points on my driving record, but she sized up the prosecutors well and knew how to speak to them with respect and professional understanding. I believe Anita to be honest, intelligent and concerned for her clients. She knows criminal law and although I hope to never require her services again, if you should, I can only recommend her highly.

During November 2013 I met with and retained Attorneys Anita Patel and Gregory Caplan concerning a Misdemeanor Notice to Appear I had received for carrying a weapon into an airport. Attorney Patel fully explained my situation and said I may be a candidate for an LA City Attorney Office Hearing. I p...rovided requested information and a letter was prepared and faxed to the LA City Attorney who immediately called Attorney Patel and said a Office Hearing was granted. My hearing was at the airport courthouse. I meet with Attorney Patel to further discuss the hearing and we then we went into the office. The Hearing Officer asked to speak privately with Attorney Patel. She the came back out with the Hearing Officer who said Attorney Patel was a great attorney and one of the attorneys he enjoyed working with. We stepped outside the office and Attorney Patel told me that the Hearing Officer was going to close my case with no further action required. I am so grateful to Anita for her thoughtful preparation of my case and excellent reputation with the LA City Attorney's office. She was very knowledgeable and immediately answered all my questions. I felt well prepared for the Hearing Officer meeting. During the six week process she always kept me informed. I strongly recommend Attorney Patel.

She had very little time to prepare for my case, but she did a great job gathering information from my ...interview and she clearly advised me of what would happen in the court process.
