Born in Pontiac, Michigan, Joseph A. Tang received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. Joseph later received his juris doctorate from the University of Illinois College of Law at Urbana-Champaign, where he graduated with honors. While at the University of Illinois College of Law, Joseph was a member and later editor of the University of Illinois Journal of Law, Technology, and Policy.
Upon graduating from law school, Joseph immediately took and passed the California bar exam, and began his career as a trial attorney working as a deputy district attorney in northern California. During that time, he prosecuted numerous DUI and criminal cases of varying levels of complexity. After leaving the district attorney’s office, Joseph went into private practice and founded The Joseph A. Tang Law Firm in Pasadena, California.
Since entering private practice, Joseph has had great success in defending clients in criminal trial courtrooms all across southern California. Joseph has tried and won numerous jury trials and defended hundreds of clients accused of crimes of all kinds and complexity. In the process of serving his clients, he has consistently produced superior results day-in day-out for them and exceeded expectations. Joseph has also had great success in civil plaintiff personal injury law practice fighting for clients who were injured or had their legal rights violated by others. In the process, Joseph has obtained recoveries for his clients and vindicated their legal rights in and out of civil trial courtrooms.
Joseph is also Of Counsel to Imhoff & Associates, a criminal defense law firm.
In recognition of his outstanding performance and results, Joseph was named as one of The National Trial Lawyer’s Top 100 Lawyers every year since 2014. The National Trial Lawyers is an invitation-only organization composed of the premier trial lawyers from each state or region who meet stringent qualifications as civil plaintiff and/or criminal defense trial lawyers. Selection is based on a thorough multi-phase objective and uniformly applied process which includes peer nominations combined with third-party research. Membership is extended only to the select few of the most qualified attorneys from each state or region who demonstrate superior qualifications of leadership, reputation, influence, stature and public profile measured by objective and uniformly applied standards.
Joseph’s other memberships include membership in the National College of DUI Defense (“NCDD”), Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (“CAALA”), Los Angeles Bar Association and the Asian Pacific Bar Association of Los Angeles.
