My daughter, unfortunately, shortly after she turned 21, had a couple of drinks and ran a red light. There was an accident and a man died. My daughter was devistated, not only because she was facing serious charges, but also because she had killed someone. Mr. Poland treated us kindly and compassio...nately. He explained that in Orange County, most people go to prison, but he had hopes that because of my daughter's character, personality and previous good works, she could avoid prison. He tried over and over again to get a DA or a judge to give her probation. As much as he tried, no one would go along with him. He kept trying. Each step of the way, he met with us, in court or in his office and explained that we weren't done yet. He would find a way. It took a year, but he did. My daughter got probation. She went to county jail and will be there 6 months. After she was convicted and given the time, the OC Register on line had 10 comments saying my daughter should go to prison for life and the judge whould be fired. Mr. Poland did a great job and kept trying when other lawyers would have given up. My daughter could get a misdemeanor out of this and liver her life.
