Steven T. Lowe is the founder and Managing Partner of Lowe & Associates, a boutique civil litigation and entertainment law firm located in Beverly Hills, California. Founded in 1991, the firm has successfully resolved many important cases in the areas of copyright, trademark, defamation, business, and entertainment law. The firm is best known for championing the rights of creators in the entertainment industry. Mr. Lowe is the co- founder and current president of the artist rights /advocacy group known as the National Society of Entertainment and Art Lawyers (“NSEAL”) formerly known as the California Society of Entertainment Lawyers (“CSEL”). He has also authored multiple important articles on copyright law, including “Death of Copyright” (2010) (which was required reading at top law schools such as UCLA) and “Death of Copyright 3: The Awakening” (2018).
Mr. Lowe has recently chaired and moderated multiple continuing legal education events including “Termination Rights Under Copyright Law: Reclaiming Works for Authors” in November 2021, “Lights, Camera, Libel: Current Trends in the Law of Defamation and Invasion of Privacy” in November 2022 and for the Beverly Hills Bar Association, “Andy Warhol meets Jack Daniels: What Supreme Court Decisions from 2023 Portend for the Coming Term” in September 2023. He also served as one of multiple distinguished panelists on “Trends in Substantial Similarity in the 9th and 2nd Circuit” for The Copyright Society in February 2023. Mr. Lowe has authored many published articles including “Rights & Remedies for Copyright Co-Owners” May 2020, “Death of Copyright 3: The Awakening” Summer 2018, and “Drafting Tips for Transactional Attorneys,” March 2010.
In 2022, under Mr. Lowe’s direction, CSEL filed amicus briefs in favor of the appellant in two important cases; both courts reversed the lower court and ruled in favor of the creator/appellant. See, Unicolors, Inc., v. H&M Hennes & Mauritz, L.P., et al., (finding that mistakes on the copyright registration forms should not invalidate the registration); Francesca Gregorini v. Apple Inc., et al., (finding sufficient substantial similarity between television show on Apple and 1993 movie to reverse dismissal).
Mr. Lowe graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1980 and the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1984. He is admitted to practice before the California Bar (1985), the Central District of California (1986), the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals (1989) and the United States Supreme Court (2014).

Mark Basile ~ President/CEO of 1 Love 4 Life Productions.
Over the past 15 years while living in Hollywood, California, I've worked in the movie business: as an actor, writer, producer, director, editor and camera operator. Which means I've needed a top notch attorney and firm to, not just provide well crafted contracts to protect me personally, my company...
"Steven is hard working and dedicated. His trustworthiness and compassion make him a true champion for his clients."
"A track record that speaks for itself, attorney Lowe has proven that he is very valuable to his clients. His depth of experience and understanding of the ins and outs of the industry make him one of LA's top entertainment attorneys."
"Mr. Lowe is an extremely talented attorney who provides great advice. Even though I have been practicing for 24 years and I am a former judge and magistrate, I learn from him every day. I would recommend him to anyone in his area."
