Biography
I am a partner at Margolin & Lawrence (Est. 2010), Attorneys at Law, a firm dedicated to criminal defense and civil litigation, including employment and trademark. We handle criminal cases ranging from drugs to violent to white collar crime. My patner is J. Raza Lawrence, who went to Harvard Law School with me. We are also flanked by associates Patrick Brooks, Tom mcmahon, Andrew Koussevitzky, and Robert Uriostegui. I have been practicing criminal law in state and federal court for the last ten years and have done civil litigation since associating with my now parnter Raza, who had over five years experience at Munger, Tolles, and Olson when he joined my first law practice on my own, the Law Office of Allison B. Margolin, Est. 2004.
Our team is committed to handling each case with the care of the proverbial "federal case," and our willingness to go to trial where appropriate, and history of success in trial, enures to the benefit of not only those clients but helps us obtain the best dispositions and settlements around because the other side knows we are not afraid to "pull the trigger" (try a case) where the facts and/or defenses call for it.
We get those results also through our willigness to seek interlocutory writs in the courts of appeal even during cases, where that is the best recourse. During 2012 alone, we successfully forced courts from Los Angeles County to Yuba County to give medical marijuana defenses to sales charges, by obtaining relief from the courts of appeals in those respective counties before trial.
We are focused on maintaining our client's liberty in criminal cases, keeping their records as clean as possible and in civil cases, helping our clients really achieve life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in whatever we can through the legal system.
