The worst lawyer in the history of jurisprudence.

I was involved in an eviction case based entirely on fraud and lies. The landlord didn't have one bit of solid evidence, other that questionable witness testimony that was ridiculous and obvious lies. This was a case that literally couldn't be lost, yet Babcock managed to lose it. He mismanaged it te...rribly and because of his incompetence, two critical witnesses for me weren't allowed to testify. His close was awful. I made a horrible mistake in hiring him. He is also extremely arrogant and nasty, very unlikable. I think those qualities also caused me to lose as the jury didn't like him. If you want to be evicted and homeless, hire him.

A Lawyer's Lawyer

Mr. Babcock is an excellent lawyer who not only has a talented legal mind, but also a very calm and patient bedside manner. Mr. Babcock's clients are usually facing extremely stressful situations, like I was when threatened with eviction from my rent controlled home of over 35 years on a pretextual ...claim of nuisance. Mr. Babcock was there every step of the arduous process to guide me and without ego, explain the nuances of the law. He took the matter to jury trial and expertly defeated the landlord, a huge corporation represented by a large law firm that used multiple lawyers during the trial. He connected with the jury immediately and won them over, securing a 9-3 verdict for me on the critical issue in her case. I strongly recommend Mr. Babcock for anyone that needs a strong attorney to fight eviction. He is fearless, organized, intelligent and steady as a rock. But most of all, he is extremely patient with clients (and I am fairly demanding) and shows them respect and compassion for the intensely emotional situations that they are in.

DAVID SLAYS APPALLING MODERN DAY GOLIATH

Thank God for Bartley Babcock the best Unlawful Detainer lawyer in existence! And a star litigator! I found myself in the most stressful unlawful detainer case brought by my egregious landlord Douglas Emmett. I live in rent controlled Santa Monica. One lie compounded by more lies and all of a sudden ...I was cast as a bad guy, in the judicial system, where I was treated as a non-person with no integrity. Bartley to the rescue! From the first meeting I knew I was in good hands. Meticulous with Briefs and very familiar with ‘low rent control paying tenants being evicted at any cost’ scenario, Bartley is brilliant, calm and fierce as he fought for me against 6 lying witnesses, a judge with very questionable motives – please don’t be naïve a company like Douglas Emmett own over 1,000 office buildings in Los Angeles County mostly renting to law firms. LA County judges are familiar with them and their pattern and practices. Bartley was undeterred, focused and kept pounding away with the facts and law. He was awesome! The jury saw through all the lies and I am sleeping just fine in my apartment of 30 years! Long time rent control tenants are targets for big corporations like Douglas Emmett. One apartment at market value can add half a million dollars to their bottom line and enabling them to purchase more buildings. Call Bartley Babcock! I am so grateful

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
