Ms. Mattern has extensive experience defending clients in both State and Federal courts. She has defended clients charged with a range of offenses including: Kidnapping; Murder; Rape; Mayhem; Arson; Assault and Battery; Statutory Rape; Sexual Battery; Lewd Conduct and Indecent Exposure; Embezzlement; Fraud and Money Laundering; Child Molestation and Child Pornography; Stalking and Terrorist Threats; Counterfeiting and Money Laundering; Conspiracy; Robbery; Possession for Sale and Possession of Controlled Substances, Drug Transportation and Manufacturing; Cultivation of Marijuana; Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Drugs; Gang Crimes; Third-Strike; Appeals and Post-conviction Relief.
Ms. Mattern graduated from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 1994. She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1995. While she was a student at Loyola Law School, she was a member of the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review. From 1996 to 2000, Ms. Mattern worked for the Law Offices of the Public Defender for the County of Riverside. After that she opened her own law office and worked for a criminal defense panel in Riverside County. During this time, she tried and defended thousands of clients charged with a range of offenses. She and her partner, Lori A. Davis, formed Davis & Mattern, LLP, a firm dedicated to the practice of criminal defense, in 2000 and relocated to Newport Beach. In 2007, Ms. Mattern closed her law practice, but continued defending clients in private practice. From 2007 through 2011, Ms. Mattern worked as a Senior Attorney for two large criminal defense law firms. In 2011, she renewed her private practice, now under the name Mattern & Mendoza, LLP, in Los Angeles.
Ms. Mattern is a member of the Criminal Law section of the California Bar. She is a former Temporary Judge for the Superior Court for the County of Orange. She has been admitted to Federal and State courts throughout California and across the United States. She has achieved impressive results, including dismissals of charges against her clients who were facing various kinds of charges.
Ms. Mattern has obtained sentences of electronic monitoring, work furlough and county jail for clients against whom prosecutors initially sought long state prison sentences. She is a member in good standing of:
