RIP OFF ALERT!

Michelle dishonored our original agreement before hiring her for representing me in regards to pursuit of my rights as a father in family court.. first, she misled me by asking for a large amount of money to be put into a "trust" account for my case and told me that whatever monies owed after the c...ase was done for services not needed would be refunded to me, in other words... the difference. She hardly did ANY work,,All of the evidence was provided by and printed out by me, i had switched attorneys in my case, so... in others words... all of the "leg work"(paralegal) work has been done by the previous attorney and by me so that i can keep the costs low. So, basically... all she had to do was file motions and show up to court... easy enough. Well, after the case was heard and found in my favor... she of course drummed up all these extra expenses.... a couple examples were for charging me for emails and phone calls when i clearly stated when we first sat down that i would not be be paying for that and she agreed. She also assured me that since i was doing all the legal work that that would cut down on expenses as well.... i don't know any family lawyer who would charge their client over 8k for a simple contempt of court hearing, especially since i presented and organized all the evidence. This person does not care about you or your family, all she cares about is money, especially if she knows that you have money. Now, i don't have much, but i would go broke fighting for my rights as a father to my child. Michelle knew that and took advantage of that and dishonored our agreement... i will be putting a complaint to the BAR association, that's how bad i was ripped off by this person and i have more than enough evidence that she will not be able to get away with it. I write this review to warn anyone thinking of using her to represent you to BEWARE, this person is a fraud and will say anything and promise everything to get you to write a check.

"Michelle Carlton is one of those few lawyers that advocates hard for her client but in a professional manner. Her understanding of divorce law and it's implications on a case is outstanding and her approach to litigation likely saves her clients a lot of money in a process that cares little for an individual's concerns. When I have a case with Michelle, I know the result will be fair and well researched. Though we were opposing attorneys on a recent case, her level of professionalism was impressive. She doesn't give up turf, but she has the experience to know when a settlement is fair and knows how to spare spouses and parents from anguish in needless litigation. Michelle is an asset to the Bar and while I don't look forward to going head to head with her, I would rather work on a case with her knowing that we can collaborate to that ending where all sides are happy.
