Biography
James Novak practices exclusively in Arizona DUI and criminal defense cases. As a former Maricopa County prosecutor, he brings a vast amount of litigation experience and has handled thousands of criminal and DUI cases, including high profile cases.
With a focus on both misdemeanors and felonies, James works each case as though it is a matter of the utmost priority. He recognizes that Arizona has some of the toughest DUI laws and penalties in the county, and that in every case a person’s freedom and future is at stake. He understands the adverse impacts of a conviction on a person’s life as that of their future and family. He is assertive and proactive when it comes to the defense of adults and youth, treating all clients with respect and at every step.
James defends charges for criminal and DUI cases primarily in Phoenix, and the surrounding East Valley Cities, including Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe, and Scottsdale AZ in Municipal Courts, Justice Courts, and Superior Courts. Because he practices exclusively in these areas, he understands and is very familiar with the criminal cases, judges, prosecution, and many of the police officers. This usually works to the client’s advantage.
As the founder of The Law Office of James E. Novak, located in Tempe, Arizona, James works hard to fight for the freedom of his clients. He regulates his case load so that he has ample time to provide 100% effort needed to build, tailor, and present each defense case. His mission is to put the client’s needs, constitutional rights, and defense first.
James Novak earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychology, which provides deep insights into defending drug DUI and drug cases of which he has a great deal of experience. His psychology education and skills also help in jury selection, perspectives, evaluating credibility of testimony, addiction issues, and conducting sworn statements and depositions. It has also led to increased communications with Judges and Prosecutions in negotiating the best possible outcome for his client’s defense case.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, James has refined the skills needed to evaluate validity of technical evidence such as forensics, crime incident and accident reconstruction. This background further gives him additional insight into the dissection and evaluation of evidence related to phlebotomy test results, and DUI or drug chemical tests such as the breath test.
James Novak also earned a Master’s Degree in Business, which has proved to be advantageous to defending white collar crime or business practice crimes such as fraud, embezzlement and other criminal offenses related to enterprises and business operations.
The Law Office of James E. Novak prides itself on its availability and ease of access for clients.
