I interviewed/consulted with Mr. Hoffman about taking my case. He seemed very knowledgeable and genuine about representing my case. So I gave him a $5000 retainer and forwarded him all my documentation to date. Then I get a call from him saying he's leaving on vacation on Thursday and that his ass...ociate Phil would be calling me on Monday. Well, Phil called on Monday and said he would be working on my case with Mr. Elway, who by the way, charges $150 MORE an hour than my interview with Mr. Hoffman. Phil then proceeded to tell me the estimate for my case was now $10,000 to $20,000 more than Mr. Hoffman's estimate during the initial interview/consultation. If you read a bait and switch in this, you're not the only one. Only it was my pocket it was coming out of. I don't mind paying for a hardworking trustworthy attorney. I just wasn't getting that feeling from this attorney or the others in his firm.
