Down to the wire Dan – Dan is a very likeable guy with a toothy grin but very far from a good attorney in my experience. I call him “Down to the wire Dan” because he waited till every deadline was right upon us to get things submitted and sometimes, he missed deadlines even when I remind him abou...t them. When I hired Dan, I had fired a previous attorney for missing deadlines. I explained to Dan that me not knowing the legal repercussions for missing deadlines and wanting to be done with my divorce as soon as possible made missing deadlines unacceptable. He assured me that he had the time and knowledge for my case. Fast forward to the first Deadline a Friday, he had said that he would have the materials submitted a week or two before. I remind him the Monday of that week that the deadline is Friday and that I’ll have limited computer access on Thursday and Friday. No problem he says will just file for an extension then he blames the extension on me being on vacation. When he had originally told me it would be complete a week or two before, very unprofessional. Dan wasn’t going to take the time to schedule an appraisal on the home my ex wanted equity out of until it “got down to wire”. So, I remind him via email on October 26th that we need to get the appraisal scheduled then after no response for 10 days I emailed him again a little more strongly worded that he needed to do his job and get the appraisal scheduled and even offered to schedule it myself. Dan responded on November 5th that he would take care of it and let me know “If you would like to transition your case Donnie, you are of course more than welcome to do that.” Knowing that mediation was scheduled for 3-4 weeks out, and I couldn’t very well transition my case. (In hindsight I wish I would have in any way possible) Guess what the appraisal wasn’t ready for in time for mediation and it had a negative impact on my outcome. No apologies from Dan, he thought he did a great job. Dan was also not “thorough” as described in his website on my Quadro estimate he was only off by over 100% he forgot to look at some key inputs. I also found out during mediation that some of his legal advice was in my opinion questionable. I could go on, but I think you get the point. You’ve been warned. I hired Dan McKay to help me with an issue at a very emotional time in my life, shortly after I lost my husband. He was very kind and understanding. As you often hear Attorneys say, call us before you do anything else after being involved in an accident. I failed to heed their advise and got in over my head. I brought what I considered a convoluted case to Dan and his staff. They took it off my hands and ran with it. They kept in touch with ...updates and how the process would work. Needless to say I feel confident that I received a fair settlement after Dan worked with all parties involved. I highly recommend the office of Daniel W. McKay and Associates! I had an usual situation arise with my divorce. The office was able to help me figure out the problem, and guide me through the steps necessary to resolve the issue. Most importantly for me, they were always prompt, clear in their commu...nications, and friendly. Because the case involved my former husband's cooperation, some of the process was slowed. Mr. McKay and Associates were able to stay calm and help me stay calm.
