The office was able to help me figure out the problem, and guide me through the steps necessary to resolve the issue. Most importantly for me, they were always prompt, clear in their commu...nications, and friendly. Because the case involved my former husband's cooperation, some of the process was slowed. Mr. McKay and Associates were able to stay calm and help me stay calm. I was referred to Dan McKay through one of his associates with whom I had done business for a real estate matter. I was blindsided by my then-wife having suddenly left me without any signs and wanted a divorce. She wanted to complete an online divorce. I had four children, a home, a long career, s...ome meager assets, and above all a severely broken heart and spirit. Dan sat with me for a few hours on our first consultation. He gathered information and told me what to do immediately in my situation. He helped me save myself from many headaches and stressors that would have been of serious nature had it not been for this initial, immediate counsel. First piece of advice was not to get an online divorce. There was too much at stake with too many complications. An online divorce could easily be overturned and bite me in the back someday. I did not even want a divorce. Dan not only gave me expert legal counsel, but he also helped me better understand the mentality of the divorce and what to prepare for when my then-spouse would turn on me and accuse me of horrific allegations. He impressed upon me in no uncertain terms that I needed to protect myself, protect my children, and protect my assets, in that order. He affirmed with me that I should prepare for the very worst from my then-spouse and helped me to know what that could mean and what he would do to help me through it. He was absolutely spot-on. It was like he knew the very course my divorce was going to take and was right all along the way. He was very intuitive and patient., especially patient with me. I continually had many questions and concerns. Most of all I was scared. I was scared of having one lone person going to throw down a simple wooden gavel then tell me where I would live, how often I would be able to see my own children, and what kind of financial misery I would endure, one lone person was going to do this. It was up to Dan to help me not only understand the processes, but become strong through the trials, and how to sustain myself mentally and emotionally. The best part of my association with Dan was the comfort he provided me when he arrived at court. Through his interactions with me, seeing him perform in court, helped me develop a strong, deep trust in him. I trusted Dan implicitly to know the law, verbalize it accurately, concisely, and in the most pertinent way possible to uphold the case he made for and in my behalf. I had several trials, court trials. He/we won every one of them. In the end, after all the appeals from my then spouse, I came away with owing no alimony, I kept my home, I retained full physical custody of my children, and she owes child support. She was ordered out of the home. She was ordered to see the children based upon the state’s visitation schedule. Dan caught her in lies and exposed them in court. The judge called her disingenuous five times, duplicitous twice, and even told her attorney he was despicable for having brought up a certain aspect of the trial in his courtroom. Dan knows the law. He knows how to present the law. He knows how to prepare someone for appearing in court and navigating one’s way through the most devastating circumstances in one’s life. . . . divorce. I trust Dan McKay. I recommend Dan McKay for legal matters. He is an honest man. He encouraged me to always be truthful, no matter how many times my then-spouse was lying on the stand. Dan was always forthright with me. One of the most important qualities a person can look for in an attorney is one who is honest, forthright, and is a total advocate, behind you 100% through good and times.
