Biography
James Lee is the founder of Liberty Law, where he focuses his practice on criminal defense and personal injury throughout Utah. He has nearly two decades of legal experience and has represented clients in a wide range of criminal and civil matters.
James began his legal career as a prosecutor, giving him experience on both sides of the criminal justice system. His criminal defense practice includes misdemeanors, DUI, domestic violence, drug offenses, assault, theft, traffic-related offenses, and serious felony charges. He represents clients at all stages of a criminal case, from the initial investigation and filing of charges through negotiations, motions, hearings, and trial.
In his personal injury practice, James represents people injured through the negligence of others, with a particular focus on motor vehicle accidents and serious injury claims. He assists clients with insurance claims, settlement negotiations, and litigation when necessary.
James earned his law degree from Brigham Young University and has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Utah. He founded Liberty Law in 2010 with the goal of providing clients with experienced, practical, and personal legal representation.
James understands that most clients come to an attorney during a difficult and uncertain time. His approach is to explain the law clearly, give clients a realistic assessment of their options, and develop a strategy tailored to the circumstances of each case.

A settlement was reached in which defendant pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of 2nd degree homicide with remaining charges dismissed. More importantly, the judge recommended that defendant should serve no more than 5 years in prison.
