Glen Cook was my first foray into the scary world of Disability. I had spoken with his paralegal? over the phone & thought, she was great, she asked all the right questions and felt my case was a slam dunk. (It was). She set up a consult for the next day. However, Cook was not as impressive. (Just d...on't tell him that) as he condescending spoke to my wife and I. I happened to repeat what I felt were key points and he asked my wife "does he always do that? We've already covered that" and suggested a mental health evaluation, (for clarifying my position!?) The cost of which would come out of my pocket after the case was closed! What? Did I hear you correctly? I'm about to pay you 6K for a day's work! So I said, "look, I don't know what you're talking about, my case is a physical issue, not a mental one & I'm asking you to be my attorney, not my doctor". (He also misinterpreted a "new law" that would have cost me about $12K) He then sarcastically told my wife that she should show all my medical records to "whoever we found to take the case" she asked, "so you're not going to take it"? He replied "No". I guess you need to kiss his a** to be a client and, that's just not me. We left that office very upset, this was our first shot and I felt afraid I'd screwed things up. (yet I had to listen all about his G.B. Packer partial ownership) Bottom line Mr. Cook is an egomaniac, with a mental disorder of his own. Our next stop got me the proper amount ($12K+ more than if Cook had taken it) and of course, no silly doctors were ever mentioned. I won without going to court. I suppose I should send him a Thank You card. I was never able to assess his legal skills but his bedside manner needs a ton of work. Go elsewhere and save some humiliation and more unnecessary stress. This process has plenty of that without an adversarial relationship with your own advocate. I'm certain all would agree with that. (see all these other reviews, even good ones refer to his "brusque" manner & pay close attention) I should have done it myself, but it appeared just too daunting a task. I'm not going to recommend anyone but if you like being treated like a child sent to their room & grounded, Glen Cook may just be your guy. He doesn't deserve a star, which would be more accurate.

I applied for Social Security Disability (SSD) and was denied. I went online to find an attorney to help me with my case. Mr. Cook agreed to meet with me and see whether he would take on my case. I loved that Mr. Cook was very straightforward and didn't sugar coat anything. He let me know how everyth...ing was going to work from the start and that it would take time. I suffer with a particularly difficult disease. Mr. Cook let me know my odds, but was still willing to help me. He and his staff are extremely knowledgeable and courteous. His assistant Jo was also very supportive throughout the entire process. I loved that Mr. Cook met with me prior to the hearing so that I was prepared and knew what to expect. I won my case due to the hard work Mr. Cook and his staff put into my case. I would highly recommend him to anyone (unless you want an attorney who sugar coats everything and doesn't properly inform you of the process and what to expect). I am so grateful for everything they did for me.

Mr. Cook was hired by my wife and I for her SS disability case over 2 years ago. At first, he seemed brash but hard-working and told us he would do everything he could to help my wife. Apparently this involves terse email responses, filing some papers, not advising his client, & not believing in them.... What he apparently doesn't realize is that he is dealing with people with severely complex emotional and psychological states and circumstances. That makes for complex cases obviously and justifies extra attention to help these people out. Just because they don't fit his standard book definition of a mentally ill person doesn't mean they don't need help and doesn't mean they are lying about their situation. My wife complied with everything that was asked of her & never once was counseled about her case. She knew the odds. There was still no counsel from this attorney who has a job that is advising people in the law and the state of their case. Two weeks before her hearing he responds to a direct question about her chances by stating he doesn't believe her and that it was too late for him to quit now (although he still did). Where was the counsel the past two years? Where was the advice after reviewing the substantial amount of medical records provided? There was none. How was he supposed to defend and fight for my wife's case when he couldn't care less? He stated that he worked hard & was prepared to fight, but all the while he didn't even believe in the information he had and called my wife a liar about everything she told him. Yes, things got heated. That is a normal response to wasting someone's time for two years only to find out that they don't believe you. An attorney's job is to advise his/her client on the case. There was absolutely none of that provided. He was merely a glorified paper filer and decided to bail at the last minute because things got too hard or to real for him. Yes, he'll respond that he will withdraw "if we find they have been inaccurate in their statements or become abusive", but who determines if something is accurate? Is that solely up to him? Are medical records inaccurate? Has he lived the life of this mentally ill person to know that things were inaccurate? Absolutely not. Are there circumstances that add beneficial information to a case? Yes, most definitely. But he does not care or take the time to invest in who he supposedly represents to learn their situation in order to best help them. If he would do so, maybe he could actually offer some counsel that certain cases just aren't going to work and avoid years of wasted time only to disappoint and set a person back far worse than they were before. In my wife's case, he states at the last minute that he doesn't believe in the information, basically calls her a liar, and things get heated. Key word is heated, not abusive. People disagree and argue heatedly. That is life. Mr. Cook is abusive himself in the way he treats his clients as he shouts at them and treats them as someone that's beneath him. There is no care or concern or want to help. I'm fully aware how complex my wife's case and condition is. Under no circumstances would I ever treat someone as Mr. Cook has treated my wife. She doesn't deserve any special treatment or anything, but the common decency of a human being is the least to be expected. If you're honest and upfront with people you get the respect that is deserved in return. I whole-heartedly believe that Mr. Cook is not fit to represent the mentally ill in social security cases. Give him a case that's easy to handle with no complexities and he may shine, but he is definitely not fit to deal with people in a sensitive situation. A rating of 10 for this man as a lawyer is not deserved for someone that doesn't care for his clients and treats them the way he does. A rating of -10 is more fitting. Read up on other's experiences.

Mr. Cook was seemingly intelligent at first examination. I was told I had a strong case. Half a year later Mr.Cook informs me that he was firing me as a client, after I learned I was denied ssi. He was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I'm a single mom and now waisted seven months with Mr.Cook...'s team. I thought they were working on my case, but found they had not done any work on my case at all. DO NOT USE GLEN COOK. I will be filing an action against him with the Utah state bar and ACLU. Bottom line he blames his clients for his lack of work ethic, calls you a liar even when you can prove all the times you called their office. He may be a good attorney to some but he spoke to me like I was trash and I had him on speaker. I was so shocked and embarrassed. He showed zero remorse or empathy for me and the level of gross mistreatment I suffered was uncalled for. Lenn MLK

Mr. Cook understands Social Security law and helped get the maximum benefits for me. I feel he was well prepared to go to trial by understanding all the medical issues I face. I appreciate that he took the time to meet with me several times. He, or his staff always returned my phone calls and answer...ed questions when I had them.
