Prior to joining Rocky Mountain Defenders, P.C., Kevin S. Vander Werff, Sr. worked for approximately 6 years as a full-time criminal defense attorney with Keith Barton & Associates, P.C. and previously as corporate in-house counsel for a technology company.
Mr. Vander Werff has experience in business law, bankruptcy law, insurance defense, criminal law and personal injury law. Kevin Vander Werff currently focuses his efforts as a criminal trial attorney whose practice is limited to criminal defense cases.
Kevin has tried both felony and misdemeanor jury trials and has dealt with a wide range of cases involving everything from sex charges to traffic cases. Many of Kevin's trials involve defending DUI cases. Kevin has received specialized training for DUI defense and has completed the NHTSA course for the Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) which is the same training received by police officers who are administering the Sobriety Tests in the field. Kevin has earned a reputation for aggressively defending his clients against criminal charges and is an effective negotiator when you need someone in your corner.
Mr. Vander Werff graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Utah Valley State College in 1998. He attended law school at Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska and was a visiting student at the J. Reuben Clark School of Law at Brigham Young University, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 2001 from Creighton University. During law school, he clerked for the Federal Defender of Nebraska, David R. Stickman, where he learned the great importance of protecting constitutional rights of all citizens. While in law school, he served as president of the Intellectual Property Law Society.
Kevin is a member of the Utah Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and admitted to practice law in all state & federal courts in the state of Utah.

Can’t say I would highly recommend nor would I say that I don’t recommend using Kevin and his team. Overall I think it was a waste of money and a public defender or just self representation would have done the exact same job and it would have been free. That being said I have not had a bad experience...
