also known as Stephen D. Benson, L.L.C.
I took an oath in 1994 to provide my clients with zealous representation. I take that oath seriously. The bottom line is that I fight. I do not back down. I do not bluff. I have no fear of taking a case to trial. I give my clients straight advice. I do not use fancy twenty-five dollar words on my website or in person. I do not pressure a client to take a "deal" he tells me he doesn't want to take. I am a trial lawyer. I defend ordinary human beings who are scared, alone and up against the formidable wealth and resources of the government.
I am a firm supporter of the 2nd Amendment Right to Keep and Bear Arms. I have been a National Rifle Association Life Member since June 22, 1993. My practice is additoinally focused in firearms law to include education, purchase denials, criminal defense in self defense situations and domestic violence prosecutions.

I hired Mr Benson because of a gun charge. He was recommended to me by a lawyer friend due to his specialty with firearm cases. Mr. Benson was able to get my charges dropped without me having to appear in court. He then successfully worked to get my public records cleared. I was very, very please wi...

Having now dealt with multiple attorneys I have experienced the “good, bad, nd ugly” of the court system and what is needed in regards to representation. This one is by far the best one I’ve worked with. I felt confident in his ability to handle a trial, though we didn’t end up needing one. He unders...

I was attacked and used a pistol in self-defense. I was again victimized by my own government and falsely accused of felony menacing. Steve had to overcome a shoddy police investigation, inappropriate judicial conduct and prosecutorial misconduct to get a NOT GUILTY verdict, but he got the job done...

Benson knew how to fight for my case and what would work. His knowledge of the legal system, and eye for the truth makes him invaluable. For a realistic and honest lawyer, look no further.

Stephen was very professional and helpful to guide myself and family through the DHS process when anonymous reports are made. It is scarey how much power this organization has and having some one knowledgeable is critical to protect your family. Our investigation was closed quickly fortunately, but...
"I have known Stephen for many years in both a professional and personal capacity. He is an extremely capable trial attorney as well as a compassionate and honorable man. If I had a family member charged with a crime I would not hesitate referring him or her to Stephen."

"I endorse this lawyer."
"I endorse this lawyer. I find Mr. Benson both knowledgeable and very passionate about protecting his clients in the system. He is a true asset to this legal community. It has been a pleasure getting knowing Mr. Benson after he offered himself as a resource to me as an attorney new to CO. Since then, we have discussed and collaborated regarding various Family Law legalities and matters."
"I endorse this lawyer. I refer cases to Stephen whenever I can he is a wonderful hardworking attorney."
"I have known Steven over ten years, his reputation in the legal community is outstanding- he is a top notch attorney committed to excellence. His expert contributions and legal opinion is relied upon by many of the practicing attorneys on Avvo."
"I have known and worked with Steve Benson since about 2008 both in a military capacity and civilian capacity. Steve is one of the most skilled and professional attorneys I have worked with. His knowledge and skills in military law, gun law, and family law is expert. I would recommend him to any client and frequently seek his advice in these and other areas."
"I endorse this lawyer. Mr. Benson has superior knowledge in the areas of Family as well as Military law. Mr. Benson also has extensive experience in firearms law and dependency and neglect juvenile proceedings."
"Steve Benson is a tireless fighter for his clients. What I like about Steve is that he seems to pay attention to what his client wants, and advocates for that position. A lot of attorneys in the dependency and neglect arena focus on substituting their judgment for that of their clients, but Steve seems to understand the role of an attorney as advocate a lot more than most. When Steve is advocating for his clients, he is effective, knowledgeable and persuasive. I've watched him grow and learn -- he's not static; instead, Steve is constantly learning and growing, and that makes a great attorney. If I'm coming up against Steve on an issue, I know I've got a fight on my hands, and I appreciate that kind of advocacy."
