Don’t walk, but run to another firm

If Brenda ever practices law again, don’t walk but run the other way if you are considering hiring her. I promise, there are far better attorneys in Colorado. She was suspended by the Colorado Supreme Court for a year and a day for her behavior. Remember the age old saying, if she did it one time..., she will do it again. She just cares about her pocket book with little care for her clients. In my case she filed unnecessary motions to increase her fees. What did I get in return? An angry ex that hired the best law firm in Colorado and had four attorneys working for her. They were very familiar with Brenda’s poor tactics from other cases and immediately they went on the offensive. My ex had deeper pockets than I did and they used this in their offense. They knew Brenda would file motion after motion, for really no reason and understood how expensive that was. Part of their plan was make me run out of money so I had to settle. Their tactic worked and I had to give up. By that point I had hurt any chance I had to try and work out a settlement that worked for me because how bad Brenda hurt the rapport with my ex. would never recommend her to anyone and I will always speak out and hopefully save others from the same fate.

Suspended

She was suspended by the Colorado Supreme Court. Her tactics were extremely aggressive towards me, her client, and she did nothing to help my case. I was able to settle when I fired her and now my ex and I have a much better coparenting relationship.

Wastes money

All Brenda did was get my money, make me hire experts that weren't needed (and in the end, she knew we wouldn't be able to use), and file motions that only angered the other side and caused me to be in a worse situation. She thinks she is a prominent attorney (as it states on her website), but I feel... she just used me for my money. If you want to hire her in the future, Google her suspension and what she did. That about sums her up in a 39-page document.

Creates Turmoil

I understand not all cases will be civil, but you shouldn't have your attorney fanning the fire, which is exactly what Brenda did in my case. My divorce wasn't a great experience, as many aren't, but it didn't have to be so contentious. Instead of speaking with the other attorney she would file motio...n after motion after motion. This not only racked up my costs but pushed my ex to get a much more high powered attorney, which hurt me in the end. If I could go back and redo this chapter of my life, I would have hired a different attorney.

Made my case worse

You should be smart with your money and go a different route. She made my case worse. Filed completely unnecessary motions without my approval and then charged me for them. The coparenting with my ex is awful since I hired her. She didn’t solve anything. I lost decision making because of her and her ...tactics and had to settle because I didn’t have any more money to fight because she wasted the funds.

"I endorse this lawyer. Brenda is an excellent advocate and a lawyer's lawyer. She fights to win, and her responses show a great depth of both knowledge and insight into the law. Her responses on sites such as AVVO additionally put her out in the community, helping members of the public, contributing to the greater "legal good". You should hire her if you're in Colorado. She knows how to win."
