I was 42 when I got my law degree and I still look forward to coming to work every day and helping our clients. Unlike so many of my colleagues, I have over 25 years of real world experience outside of the practice of law. This breadth of knowledge and experience benefits my clients every day.
I am known for vigorously protecting my clients, particularly when they are victims of emotional or physical abuse. Yes, doing so got me disciplined because the opposing party in a divorce accused me of hurting his son's feelings. Too bad no one in the OARC cared about my client's feelings, or the abuse she has experienced at the hands of her ex-spouse for years. After spending over $22k defending against the accusation, I accepted discipline rather than spending another $30-40k going to formal hearing on the charges. If you handle high conflict divorces, you are bound to get bruised occassionally. If you are looking for an attorney he will go to the mats to protect you, I may be your guy.
My four kids are grown, but our three canine buddies keep the house from getting too quiet. That's Max, our American Foxhound mix, in the photo.
When not practicing law I stay active with my hobby, amateur radio. A former deputy sheriff and firefighter while in college, I am actively involved in disaster preparedness and response. Currently I serve as the Section Emergency Coordinator for the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) in the state of Colorado. In that capacity I lead over 700 licensed amateur radio operators who serve their communities during time of need. I am also the State Coordinator and Co-Founder of the Auxiliary Emergency Communications Unit of the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Colorado AuxComm.

Wow! Going through a divorce is such a roller coaster. Thanks to Robert and Chris and everyone else at the firm for your help. I couldn't have made it through this without you.

I just went through a divorce and Robert and his staff represented me. We actually settled my case before going to Court. I got almost everything on my "wish list" and my fees were a fraction of my husband's. I would recommend Robert to anyone who wants to resolve their case quickly and amicably ...

I worked with Robert and his staff after a successful appeal and remand. I wish he had been my attorney from the start. Thank you sooo much.

"Robert has the ability to take a high conflict case and turn it into a very collaborative case for the benefit of the children. I highly recommend him."
"Robert is an extremely strong advocate for his clients. He has excellent rapport with the judges and fellow attorneys and always puts the best interests of his clients first and foremost above everything else. As such, he is able to get incredible deals or agreements for his clients, as well as getting great results for them in trial."

Censure issued in CO, 2017
updated on 12/27/2017This means the attorney did something wrong, but the Bar did not suspend the lawyer. Typically in this case the lawyer's poor behavior is exposed to the public in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.
“In the course of representing my client she asked me to speak to her insubordinate 16 year old son who was being used by the spouse as a tool of abuse. In the course of doing so, I observed that while his parents were sacrificing to send him to an expensive Christian high school, he was behaving like a kid raised in the ghetto. The politically correct crowd at OARC considered this to be a racial slur. After spending $20k defending, I acquiesced and agreed to public censure to dispose of the case”
