A non-native Texan, I grew up in Illinois near St. Louis but moved to Austin for law school and have stayed ever since. My practice primarily focuses on representing health care professionals before various state and federal agencies. I have extensive experience representing physicians, pharmacies, pharmacists, dentists, and nurses before their different licensing agencies. I also routinely represent physicians in credentialing and peer review matters before hospitals and insurance networks. Not afraid to go to court, I have litigated my client's cases through initial complaints, informal conferences, administrative hearings, and all the way to the court of appeals with successful results. At the time of writing (2014), a large part of my practice focuses on physicians, mid-level practitioners, and pharmacies accussed of non-therapeutically prescribing or dispensing pain medication.

Above and beyond
I found myself in a place that I never imagined which ultimately resulted in me potentially losing my license as a counselor. Having no experience in these types of situations, I desperately researched and found Mr. Lype. I had no idea what to expect. What I got from Mr. Lype was honesty, genuineness, and understanding. My case involved me having to talk about very difficult topics and he made this substantially easier to do. I personally believe we ended up getting a better outcome than what could have been expected. I owe that to him for being willing to work with me. If you are looking for a genuine, honest, compassionate attorney- Mr. Lype is your person. Thank you again for everything.

His caring and calm nature has made us feel at ease during the whole process. His office staff was professional and responsive. Dan responded to our phone calls and emails promptly. We wholeheartedly recommend Dan and his firm without any reservation.

A True Professional
Dan is a true, honest professional and knows his material well. Dan worked with me on a TSBDE Case where a request of records and audit was performed on 5 patients within my dental practice. Going in front of the board on your own or blind is a bad idea. Dan has experience with the board, its members, attorneys and their methods. He guided me through the process and advised me perfectly. I highly recommend Dan to any dentist out there who needs help and guidance on all types of Texas State Dental Board matters.

Highly recommend
I had pretty serious allegations resulting in an investigation. Dan helped guide me perfectly And gave me reassurance that I really needed.. He knew exactly how much information to provide at each step along the way. During my hearing, he pleaded my case very effectively. Due to his expertise, my case was dismissed. You are in great hands if you retain Dan’s services.

Great Attorney
Mr. Lype represented me for the informal conference before the Texas state board of dental examiners. After a thorough internet search for lawyers that defend dentist against TSBDE, I was fortunate enough to have found Mr. Dan Lype. From the first phone consultation which was complimentary, Dan was extremely helpful, patiently hearing my case, and giving advice even before any retainer contract was signed. From the beginning of this process, Dan prepared me on different strategies in approaching this case and he diligently gathered all pertinent information for the informal conference. He also spent a lot of time in coaching me for when I had to present my defense before the dental board. My case was dismissed quickly before any discussion was needed with the board members because Mr. Lype had carefully prepared to the board a very powerful and convincing argument letter of rebuttal. I honestly and wholeheartedly would recommend Dan to represent against any state board related issues.

Worth every penny and more
I was referredto this firm by a friend and was connected with Dan. I had a very difficult situation involving a 2nd DWI conviction as a licenced medical professional that was very unforgiving. I know a few people that have had to leave my specialty for the same thing and I was very worried. Dan explained the whole process and strategy and he prepared me for the worst scenaria. I was prepared but he had several converstations to clarify what my priorities were. I wanted to keep my jobs. He was able to organize an order for my license that was not only allowing me to keep my job, there were NO restricrtions on me while I was working. I thought my whole life and everything I had worked my whole life for was over when this happened. In the end, everything all worked out and work never skipped a beat. I originally was so scared with what I was dealing with but now looking back, I would have paid his fee 3 times over for his role in helping me keep my license and career! I am forever grateful for him and his team!!!!!!!!

5 stars is not enough. This lawyer is something else!
Mr lype helped me with my case with the Texas state board of dental examiners. I talked to numerous lawyers before finally choosing Mr lype. His honesty made me at ease. He was very helpful to prepare me on what to say and do for the informal conference. In a nutshell, I really hope to see more lawyers as honest and as straight forward as him. I would very highly recommended him. The case itself was very burdening, but working with him and knowing that I am actually working with an attorney that actually cares, made it tons better. I sincerely thank him for getting me a positive outcome, his caring attitude and his incredible honesty!!!!

Relentless, clever, was able to restore my faith in "the system" when I thought I'd lost everything.
Dan represented me before the TX board of pharmacy. I had just had a very unpleasant experience in another state and had come home to recover, regroup, and start fresh only to find that the board had other plans. Without Dan's very reassuring, steady leading in courtroom after courtroom, I would have had a much different life over the last six years. Dan and his team of lawyers have provided me the opportunity to continue what I love doing, practicing pharmacy, against all odds it seems. There was once a time when I thought I couldn't afford a lawyer. I now know that I should never have gone without a lawyer.... Don't be naive like I was, I was CERTAIN that you had to break a law to lose your license. I just knew you had to do something wrong in order for your whole world to be turned upside down and inside out..... Evidently that is NOT true. I also assumed that boards evaluated each case on it's own merits.... WRONG You are a liability. Period. I truly believe God led me to find Dan because without Dan, I would have lost everything. I'll never be able to repay the gratitude I feel for giving me back my faith, my confidence that truth and justice actually CAN prevail. I guess I went from being very gullible to very jaded to seeing things as they really are.... I don't think I'll ever leave myself open and vulnerable again. Luckily, Dan has never listened to any of the legal advice I've tried to interject into the strategy of keeping me in the ranks of the working class. He knows his field of expertise. He knows how to present his point. He is effective. My story isn't over... apparently the "other side" has no problem appealing every decision made by the courts in my favor (and why not? they don't pay the lawyer fees... the tax payers of this great state do thru the attorney generals office) so the beat goes on. I can only tell you that Dan is worth his weight in gold and then some. If you have a Goliath breathing down your neck, your modern day David goes by the name of Dan Lype.

Wonderful Administrative Lawyer
Mr. Lype represented me at a hearing before the Texas Board of Law Examiners. After substantial preparation, I was well prepared for the hearing. Dan has relationships with the staff members and was able to help me understand exactly what to expect. With Dan's assistance I was able to become licensed. I wholeheartedly recommend Dan Lype to anyone scheduled for a hearing with the BLE.
