Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2010, James W. Evans or “Jimmy”, has been in practice for 16 years. Mr. Evans is also a lifetime member of the Texas Academy of Family Law, a Lifetime Member of the Texas Family Law Foundation. Mr. Evans is a member of the Family Section of the Travis County Bar and the State Bar of Texas and has been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of . Evans graduated law school at Texas Wesleyan University in just over 2 ½ years in 1994.

After becoming licensed in May 1995, worked as an assistant criminal district attorney with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. During this time, Mr. Evans prosecuted such crimes as domestic violence, protective orders, family violence, sex crimes against children, and other felony and misdemeanor crimes for nearly 5 years. During this time, Mr. Evans spent significant time working with children and protecting them against the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Evans was nicknamed “scrapper” for his scrappy litigation style. Thereafter, Mr. Evans worked in commercial litigation with a private firm until becoming a father 6 years ago. Since that time, Mr. Evans focused his practice exclusively in the area of family law.

During Mr. Evans’ 18 years of practice, he has obtained extensive court room experience and has over 100 jury trials to his credit. Mr. Evans has successfully mediated many cases and is trained in collaborative law.

In 2010, Mr. Evans completed the requirements and has been recognized by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and was honored to become board certified in Family Law.

Good guidance and no pressure

I used the Evans Law Firm and Jimmy was my main contact. Upon needing to file for divorce, I was able to get consulting to be comfortable that this was the right law firm to use and Jimmy was patient and provided great guidance along the way. There was no pressure to hurry it along and I never had ...trouble getting a hold of Jimmy or his staff with questions.

Outstanding Family Law Firm

After many months of attempting to work with my now ex-husband on my own, I hired Evans Family Law Group to help me navigate through the challenging process of filing an uncontested divorce and child support. Jimmy Evans helped me initially and was very down to earth. My case was given to Katheri...ne Obando who represented me for the remainder of my case. I appreciate Katherine’s straight-forwardness and honesty when giving me advice and options for how to proceed. Though my husband at the time was very unresponsive, Katherine was very patient and understanding knowing that my ultimate goal was to keep my divorce amicable and “Uncontested”. Both Jimmy and Katherine were very responsive and consistently available for any questions I had. I always felt that the advice I was given was in my best interest and not in the interest of getting the firm more money unnecessarily. The office manager, Jenni Evans, was very easy to work with for payments and the charges to me were reasonable and fair. Dina Orona was very responsive and helpful when I needed any and all appointments made. The best experience I've had with a law firm

Amazing customer service! I hired Jimmy Evans to write my pre-nup and his service was next to none. He gave me his rate up front unlike many other firms who leave the total cost a mystery. I had changed my mind about the pre-nup four/five different times and he did not show any frustration and contin...ued to serve me. Finally, I came to him three days before my actual wedding with more changes and he worked on a Sunday to complete the project. Overall this is the best experience I've ever had with a lawyer.

Knowledgeable Attorney

Jimmy clearly laid out a plan that helped me through this difficult and unexpected divorce. I was able to be in a situation where I could keep my home which was all I had left at this late stage of my life. He was patient and tolerant. First, Jimmy is a man of his word. In a field that is often, by its nature, rife with anxiety, fear, and frustration, being able to trust another attorney's word has a tremendous impact on a client's ability to manage their emotions, the attorney' ability to remain focused on the legal issues, and finally, the overall cost of the suit. Secondly, Jimmy is reasonable, ever conducting "cost benefit analyses" of courses of action in suit and whether those courses of action lead to the best results with the least damage.
