Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2010, James W. Evans or “Jimmy”, has been in practice for 16 years. Mr. Evans is also a lifetime member of the Texas Academy of Family Law, a Lifetime Member of the Texas Family Law Foundation. Mr. Evans is a member of the Family Section of the Travis County Bar and the State Bar of Texas and has been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of . Evans graduated law school at Texas Wesleyan University in just over 2 ½ years in 1994.

After becoming licensed in May 1995, worked as an assistant criminal district attorney with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. During this time, Mr. Evans prosecuted such crimes as domestic violence, protective orders, family violence, sex crimes against children, and other felony and misdemeanor crimes for nearly 5 years. During this time, Mr. Evans spent significant time working with children and protecting them against the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Evans was nicknamed “scrapper” for his scrappy litigation style. Thereafter, Mr. Evans worked in commercial litigation with a private firm until becoming a father 6 years ago. Since that time, Mr. Evans focused his practice exclusively in the area of family law.

During Mr. Evans’ 18 years of practice, he has obtained extensive court room experience and has over 100 jury trials to his credit. Mr. Evans has successfully mediated many cases and is trained in collaborative law.

In 2010, Mr. Evans completed the requirements and has been recognized by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and was honored to become board certified in Family Law.

Compassionate and concise

I am so grateful to Jimmy Evans and Evans Family Law Group! They guided me through my divorce and child custody with compassion and efficiency. Special revisions were handled very thoroughly. Very Knowledgable and Experienced with Multi-State Divorces

When my out-of-state spouse filed in Austin for divorce with children without my knowledge, I decided to meet Jimmy Evans based on his experience and excellent reviews regarding multi-state divorces. At the consultation, he immediately pointed out mistakes she made with her filing that we took advan...tage of immediately with a counter-petition. Jimmy gave excellent advice when I asked about using a private investigator. This turned the tide in our divorce agreement/custody battles. Plus as soon as I told her to look up Jimmy Evans, she gave up almost all of her demands. Jimmy and I had an emergency hearing, and the outcome is far better than what I expected. The judge granted the agreed divorce without her presence.

Hard-pressed to find someone better

Jimmy did a fantastic job in our unique situation. He instructed us, fought long and hard with us, was very honest and held back no punches when instructing us, and maneuvered both us and the adversary to get us where we wanted to be. He would also tell us where we would be wrong and helped to cor...rect and change our perspective when "the heat of the moment" issues came up. First, Jimmy is a man of his word. In a field that is often, by its nature, rife with anxiety, fear, and frustration, being able to trust another attorney's word has a tremendous impact on a client's ability to manage their emotions, the attorney' ability to remain focused on the legal issues, and finally, the overall cost of the suit.
