Good Luck

Richard was awful and only helped me get my case dismissed after I threatened him with a poor review....well, here it is: I think he takes on too many cases and does not devote equal attention to all of his clients. Its not to say there's a chance he'll be able to help you, you'll just have to beg f...or attention before you get a response. And that response will almost ALWAYS be "I'll look into it later this week". After Richard missed my first court date in February of 2014 and allowed my case go into the bond forfeiture status (i.e. the courts start a Civil case against you), he couldn't even inform me when I eventually had a warrant out for my arrest. I was arrested in April of 2014 on my way to class at Texas State....granted, he DID get me out of jail that same day but, he COMPLETELY neglected to follow up with the courts in order to get my case cleared after I was released. 4 years later, my civil case goes into default and I owe the Travis County courts $2,000+. Fun fact: in Texas, you're responsible for your attorney's idiot mistakes. Richard's excuse/response will probably be something like "I didn't hear from her for four years" which is true, but from January 2014 when I hired him and April 2014, he did nothing except take my money, tell me he would "handle it" and then neglect my case entirely. See my attached picture...when I asked him about it after receiving the default judgement notice in Feb. of 2018, he gave me that "I'll look into it later this week" excuse AGAIN and I decided to call the courts myself to get it handled. Only after speaking with an extremely helpful Judge's aide AND the Asst. District Attorney for Travis County, was I able to get my CIVIL case dismissed, pro se (on my own with NO HELP FROM RICHARD, AT ALL). Yes, you read that right...the entity that brought the case AGAINST me was more helpful than my lawyer. A person (me) with ZERO legal experience was able to get the case handled in less than a week while Richard stood by, promising to help, when he had no intention to. I paid him an attorney's fee like everyone else and only got a four year headache and a day-long jail stay in return. Heed my warning....there are better lawyers out there than Richard Jones.

Disappointed

Hired Richard for what should have been a simple case and easy case. Getting results and communication was like pulling teeth. I was the one to reach out every time for updates on the case. I got more information and results from my own research and the courts directly than I did from him. He kept fo...rgetting about details of my case including appts with the court that he needed to attend which resulted in a warrant for my arrest for failure to appear. I ended up paying him for work that I ended up doing. It took a lot longer for this case to come to a resolution than it should have. I was not happy with this attorney!

Would never recommend

I hired Mr. Jones to represent my son. He was terrible! He forgot details about my son including on of the most important, my son was on probation. One of his biggest selling points about himself was that he represented MANY people on probation and he would FIGHT for his client. He basically took t...he money and did not do the work. We all here about how shady some attorneys are and I tried to keep an open mind. I would never recommend this particular attorney to ANYONE. I believe Mr. Jones is in it just for a paycheck and not for the good of his clients. I have read all of the reviews before posting my own and I wholeheartedly agree with the bad ones and I feel they are totally honest.

I work hard for my clients. I take hard cases and not just the easy ones. Sometimes the hard ones, where guilt is overwhelming or someone is on probation with multiple violations, don't workout as well as the clients wish. I can't change the facts. I do put my clients in the best possible position given what I have to work with. It's natural to want to blame someone. As the lawyer, I'm an easy target. I admit I have a busy practice and occasionally people feel left out. I tell them upfront when they hire me that if they feel that way to text me. That's why clients get my cell number. I respond to texts 7 days a week. If someone has an issue - whether real or imagined I'm here to deal with it. I stand by my work. I'm sorry this person was unhappy but I do my job well.

Best Attorney I've Ever Had!!!

Richard is an amazing attorney. He was in constant contact with my girlfriend and accepted the payment she could afford to get me released from Del Valle Jail. He got me out on bond that was originally revoked, took over as my attorney for past case as well as most recent one and even got me released... a day earlier than planned. He was even late to his karate class that evening due to getting my release papers signed! Has been in great contact with me since being released as well as working with me on future payments to him for his services. I couldn't ask for a better attorney. Thanks Richard, you are God sent.

DO NOT HIRE! WORST ATTORNEY EVER! HE WORKS FOR THE COURTS NOT YOU!

I would never recommend this attorney if you are serious about winning your case. This attorney does not work for the client. I paid him and was made promises that were never kept. For one, the only contact or communication I had with attorney Jones was in court itself. He had no idea about my case a...nd never even took the time to sit down and discuss the circumstances behind my case. He would not return calls, emails, texts, nothing! I was kept in the dark on my case which just ended after a year and a half of going to court behind it. He did not do anything for me but take my money and waste valuable time. I could have gotten what I got on my own had I represented myself. He is not a good attorney and I would think twice before hiring him for representation. I found out later, after paying him his fee, he is also a court appointed attorney and I could have saved that money and gotten him for free! DO NOT USE THIS ATTORNEY if you are serious about winning you case! If you don't care how it turns out, then use him. He will NOT fight for you nor will he keep you informed about your case. You are a number not a person to him! I should have done better research! He promises a lot however, after hire, you will never be able to get a hold of him again, until you are at your court dates. Again, I got the Maximum Probation sentence after a year and a half of going to court. I could already be done with this had he gotten what he got me when this started.

I'm not exactly certain who wrote this review but I strongly disagree with it. I have been practicing for 20 years and I charge a very reasonable fee. Most attorneys in Travis County handle appointed and retained cases. If someone hires me it means they have a job and would not qualify for a court appointed attorney. Had this person discussed any of these so called issues with me, I would have tried to address them. My cell number is on my card and I tell clients they are free to text me from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. My assistant is available when I am in court. NONE of my clients plead to DWI probation unless the state has a very strong case against them and they choose not to take their chances at trial. I have an excellent reputation with my clients and I go the extra mile for them. I am always upset when someone has "issues" but I do a good job for my clients.
