Richard Timothy Jones

This review for what I am sure are otherwise glowing reviews can be stated as nothing exceptional, border line impersonal. I felt like he was more of a prosecutor in my matter than my lawyer trying to negotiate in my behalf with them. He never gave me that "bulldog lawyer" impression, made to feel st...and offish quite honestly mostly despite always giving him the common respect one would. Acted perturbed and insulted, even once questioning my questioning him about an answer to a part of my case that was clearly not something that was outside the realm of anything a paying client would ask about - quipping "are you questioning my ability because I have been doing this for ___ years honestly and I can assure you I know what I am talking about here". Not the answer you expect from someone for just asking a question! So, he told me the day I hired him what my outcome would be and one year later to the letter thats what the outcome was! I still find this odd at best and can say that the lawyer felt almost too close to prosecutors because my issue was not even a matter it should've been dismissed and was not ever a valid prosecution, however, when I asked Richard to possibly fight this I got the guilts into taking a plea which is somewhat regrettable to this very day. Under duress? Yes. Do you want to deal with the personality ? You make the call but this was my experience and i will say he knows law, he just doesn't feel like he's your lawyer when he is...

I hired Richard T. Jones to represent me after I was charges with my offense. He was very nice and assuring the first time I met with him but after that things went downhill fast. He would not communicate with me about my case unless I basically hunted him down and made him. He always said he was bus...y and would get back to me but never did. I feel Like nothing about my case and my options were discussed at length with me. This was especially upsetting because I paid good money to retain mr.jones ,he was not a court appointed. He did Do a good job at showing up to all my court dates but overall the lack of communication and the overall rude attitude he always had would have to be the things that were unacceptable the most to me. Oh yeah the only time he would smile and make a joke or seem friendly was when it was time for me to pay him another chunk of money.

Richard was awful and only helped me get my case dismissed after I threatened him with a poor review....well, here it is: I think he takes on too many cases and does not devote equal attention to all of his clients. Its not to say there's a chance he'll be able to help you, you'll just have to beg f...or attention before you get a response. And that response will almost ALWAYS be "I'll look into it later this week". After Richard missed my first court date in February of 2014 and allowed my case go into the bond forfeiture status (i.e. the courts start a Civil case against you), he couldn't even inform me when I eventually had a warrant out for my arrest. I was arrested in April of 2014 on my way to class at Texas State....granted, he DID get me out of jail that same day but, he COMPLETELY neglected to follow up with the courts in order to get my case cleared after I was released. 4 years later, my civil case goes into default and I owe the Travis County courts $2,000+. Fun fact: in Texas, you're responsible for your attorney's idiot mistakes. Richard's excuse/response will probably be something like "I didn't hear from her for four years" which is true, but from January 2014 when I hired him and April 2014, he did nothing except take my money, tell me he would "handle it" and then neglect my case entirely. See my attached picture...when I asked him about it after receiving the default judgement notice in Feb. of 2018, he gave me that "I'll look into it later this week" excuse AGAIN and I decided to call the courts myself to get it handled. Only after speaking with an extremely helpful Judge's aide AND the Asst. District Attorney for Travis County, was I able to get my CIVIL case dismissed, pro se (on my own with NO HELP FROM RICHARD, AT ALL). Yes, you read that right...the entity that brought the case AGAINST me was more helpful than my lawyer. A person (me) with ZERO legal experience was able to get the case handled in less than a week while Richard stood by, promising to help, when he had no intention to. I paid him an attorney's fee like everyone else and only got a four year headache and a day-long jail stay in return. Heed my warning....there are better lawyers out there than Richard Jones.

Richard is an excellent lawyer and handled my case in the most professional fashion. He was meticulous in his understanding of the law and details of my case and was not only helpful just to me, but also to my family members. Of most importance to me other than the outcome of the case - which was... favorable by the way - was that his communication lines were *always* open. That is one of the main reasons why you should hire Richard Jones's firm. Excellent Communication - Superb Representation - and Positive Attitude - and Favorable Results!
