No time for clients

Hired Mr Richard and regret it now. Very poor response, he is not organized and often forgets about the case details. He got me nothing (not even tried) except to just take what the prosecutor gave us. He has no secretary or help and so you are at the mercy of his memory. Made me sign the prosecutor... documents in the court in the last minute without properly discussing and explaining me what I was signing. Basically, he was all sweet before hiring and then no time for me after.

I work hard for all my clients. My cell number is on the front of my card. I meet people on the evenings and the weekends. I never force anyone to take a plea. There is always the option of a trial. Sometimes that is not the best option, but it's always an option. I do spend a great deal of time in court but if someone tells me they need a meeting, I will find time. I'm sorry if someone is unhappy with the outcome of their case.

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid.

IMPORTANT: If you have been assigned Mr. Jones, IMMEDIATELY start recording ALL conversations, and save multiple copies of ALL documents and ALL recordings you've made in multiple secure locations. Be nice and discrete even when he is obviously acting against your interests, and he will likely provid...e you what you need for a retrial (if convicted) and a potential lawsuit against him and/or the court. Mr. Jones pays for positive reviews on multiple sites, and all calls to his office are recorded. If the recording(s) contains evidence that can be used against Mr. Jones or his legal assistant/secretary, it will disappear and you will never get it. However, if it can be used against you, it likely will in the event that you claim malpractice or ineffective assistance of counsel. In Williamson County Mr. Jones operates under a financial conflict of interest with the prosecuting court, and he will not advocate for you as much as he acts in the best interests of his career (which means the best interest of the court, his "adversary"). I suspect that Mr. Jones has to request court appointments because few, if any, of his former clients would recommend him. Although Mr. Jones is well educated (UT Law), and generally understands and is able to apply legal concepts, he appeared to not only not care about my case, but he began to actively prevent me from defending myself effectively (i.e. I would have been better off with NO attorney). I sustained significant financial injured as a result of the baseless accusations against me, and he did not even attempt to prevent it. After some five months of delays, refusing to even speak to the prosecutor, refusing to provide me my case-file, providing me false information about many topics, using deception to manipulate me and prevent me from speaking with the court, tampering with me as a witness, hanging up on me, refusing to return calls and actively trying to avoid me, etc. (basically your nightmare attorney), I fired Mr. Jones and went with the cheapest attorney I could find. It is generally a bad idea to hire the cheapest attorney you can find. This other attorney that was far less professionally competent got the charges against me dismissed. Although Mr. Jones refused to take any action that would help my case, he was preparing for sentencing, and I am quite certain I would have been wrongly convicted under his counsel. AVOID at all costs.

DO NOT HIRE! WORST ATTORNEY EVER! HE WORKS FOR THE COURTS NOT YOU!

I would never recommend this attorney if you are serious about winning your case. This attorney does not work for the client. I paid him and was made promises that were never kept. For one, the only contact or communication I had with attorney Jones was in court itself. He had no idea about my case a...nd never even took the time to sit down and discuss the circumstances behind my case. He would not return calls, emails, texts, nothing! I was kept in the dark on my case which just ended after a year and a half of going to court behind it. He did not do anything for me but take my money and waste valuable time. I could have gotten what I got on my own had I represented myself. He is not a good attorney and I would think twice before hiring him for representation. I found out later, after paying him his fee, he is also a court appointed attorney and I could have saved that money and gotten him for free! DO NOT USE THIS ATTORNEY if you are serious about winning you case! If you don't care how it turns out, then use him. He will NOT fight for you nor will he keep you informed about your case. You are a number not a person to him! I should have done better research! He promises a lot however, after hire, you will never be able to get a hold of him again, until you are at your court dates. Again, I got the Maximum Probation sentence after a year and a half of going to court. I could already be done with this had he gotten what he got me when this started.

I'm not exactly certain who wrote this review but I strongly disagree with it. I have been practicing for 20 years and I charge a very reasonable fee. Most attorneys in Travis County handle appointed and retained cases. If someone hires me it means they have a job and would not qualify for a court appointed attorney. Had this person discussed any of these so called issues with me, I would have tried to address them. My cell number is on my card and I tell clients they are free to text me from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. My assistant is available when I am in court. NONE of my clients plead to DWI probation unless the state has a very strong case against them and they choose not to take their chances at trial. I have an excellent reputation with my clients and I go the extra mile for them. I am always upset when someone has "issues" but I do a good job for my clients.

Mr. Jones is a Horrible Lawyer

This attorney did nothing for me other than get a warrant issued for my arrest! I had to fire him. I paid him to represent me against some ridiculous false trespassing charges and he said I didn’t not need to attend the court date and then he missed the court date which caused a Fugitive Warrant for ...my Arrest for not showing up in court! Stress and heartache for seven long months while he delayed over and over. The only communication I had with Mr. Jones about my case was in court for five minutes, after the Judge ordered the bailiff to locate him and ordered him to talk to me! He talked to me for no more than 5 minutes. He would not return my emails or texts. He would not even answer my questions and had no time to talk to me. He kept postponing my trial over and over after I told him to move forward with discovery and set a trial date. He is a poor excuse for an attorney. If the court appoints him to you, ask for other representation. He will NOT fight for you nor will he keep you informed about your case. He could care less about you. I had to fire him in order to move my case forward.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
