Steve Shellist is an amazing attorney and I highly recommend him to anyone needed help. In January 2014, my 18 year old daughter was charged with class II felony, burglary of a habitat. She had been out with some friends one night and were fishing nearby in the bay. They were fishing near a house tha...t appeared to be vacant. It had windows broken, the door was broken, and had no lights, etc... She allowed her friends to influence her to enter the house to look around. It turned out that the house was not lived in, but was used by its owner as a "fishing" house on occasion. All of the kids were charged with burglary of a habitat and now faced a felony charge that would forever follow them around for the rest of their lives. A class II felony is punishable with up to 20 years in prison! My wife and I were so stressed and afraid for our daughter, so I began interviewing attorneys to find someone that would put in the hard work and truly have our daughter's best interest at heart. Every attorney that I interviewed gave me the same "song and dance" regarding their approach to the case and what outcome they would target. What made Steve stand out was that he was also a family man, and when I talked to him about my daughter, he began talking to me about his kids and what he would do for them, and he stressed that he would do the same for my daughter. This was amazing considering the evidence that they had on our daughter. Furthermore, the other kids all received felony probation. Our daughter was the only one that got a reduced sentence! She is now continuing her college education and she will be able to gain employment that will hopefully allow her to one day properly support herself and she can start her own family. Steve was always available to answer my emails and phone calls, and he always kept us updated on the status of her case. Our family will forever be grateful for what he did for our daughter.
